Today I have... Thread.

Today I found out I got that interview yesterday because a friend of mine who was previously employed by the company that interviewed me gave me a good character reference.

Also bought some empire biscuits for my parents because they've been away for a week and I missed them.

Relaxed after my first week back to work, following yet another surgery on my left eye. I missed two weeks last year because I had a cornea transplant and missed one this year because the doctor had to remove cataracts and remove some bad tissue (basically scraping the top and bottom layer off my cornea).

Fun times. Thank god I still have some hydrocodones left because my eye still feels like I've sat in a basement for too long with the dehumidifier running.

Today my lil shit of a Siberian Husky (can't blame her, she got her clumsy traits from me) managed to chip my right front tooth - it's intact but has a mean slice in it that requires an emergency dental appointment in the morning - while I was applying some barrier cream to her paws. It's hotter than usual here and I don't want her to burn her pads. Bitch headbutted me in the face mid-application. Good job I'm hard as nails.

Also sadly at the end-stage of my sweetest Grandad's life ('Bamp' as he's called, mentioned learning of his worsening prognosis with cancer upthread... Stage 4 prostate cancer, has taken over other organs and now has a recurring infection.)
I've been visiting him every day but an infection has taken hold and is leaving him in severe pain. He's had the infection drained twice with operations but is due a third draining. It just keeps returning. Not sure how much more the poor guy can take, really. He's been in agony (which is painful to witness) but after each draining, the morphine and anaesthetic has rendered him almost his old cheerful, hilarious self. We've been expecting the end for almost two weeks and his wife has given up on him pretty much "I just want him to go, I can't stand him being in pain..."; which is understandable, although nobody wants to see him in pain, nobody really wants him gone, either.

Writing him a card with everything I've wanted to say to him before he does go. He's been the ultimate inspiration to me; as children, we'd hear his cheerful whistles coming up the driveway before we saw him and he got me my first job 'off the books' at aged 12. Taught my family a lot!

Having a drink tonight (as if I don't most nights!) In his honor; I've been discouraged from visiting again as he's not himself and is in acute pain. I'm both happy to enjoy the good memories both past and present and gutted if I'll never see him again.

Really hope he's lucid enough to get my heartfelt (mildly gay) card with my true sentiments, feel lucky that I've gotten so much from the man.

Semper fi, Bampa :heart-full:

(Sorry for gay post, genuinely gutted)

Today I woke up with a hangover because currently unemployed but have money saved up so got wasted.

Smoked some cigs and played Fate/GO for awhile.

Let my rat out to play with the younger cat because they like each other.
Gave my turtles shell a good cleaning so he's happy.

Applied online to a few places.

Watched some Panty&Stocking episodes.

Overall spent most of my time in between reading threads on here.

Pretty cool rat you got there!

I think the best time I had was hearing two children (one white and one black) converse at a restaurant a few weeks back and was glad to see friendships haven't died in the current age. They of course had their smartphones and all but I was glad to see interaction of any kind happen that was normal and fun. I just hope their friendship will last a long time given the way things are these days.
