I made a really stupid mistake with the laundry today. I didn't realize that the canister that was holding my paint thinner (that I use for my art) was leaking until the smell started getting strong and left rust spots on my shelf. So after using some towels to wipe it up and throw out the cannister, I threw it in the dirty clothes bin to be washed on laundry day. You see, the complex's is only open until 4PM and is closed on Friday and the weekend so the only time I could get the time I needed to do it was Wednesday. (The washers and dryers like to take their sweet time.) I foolishly thought that the washing machine and detergent would easily clean up and get rid of the smell. I didn't realize that my clothes now smelled like paint thinner. So I threw the two loads in with two scented dryer sheets each. (Not before throwing out the two towels I used that had the stuff on it.)
I was able to get the smaller load with the least smell mostly out, the other one had a problem. For now, the clothes are being aired out in hopes of easing the smell. I'm just thankful it didn't mess with the colors. Any hints on how to get rid of the smell (that's now on the inside of the clothes hamper as well)?
