I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were either NG or a reservist, so I'll ask you a few genuine questions and maybe you can clarify things.

What branch of service did you do radio communications for? Was it the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, or Coast Guard? Did you have a specific MOS and where did you do your AIT at?

Did you ever go overseas for Annual Training when you were in the military?

The military's does hire non - military personal, trust me I was it in that shit for a long time. Most military communications I was involved were at night so I could do both.

Something as sensitive as radio communications would require a security clearance, which wouldn't be granted to a civilian private contractor except under a very narrow set of exceptions.

If you were a reservist, you wouldn't have to work at night so you could work at your day jobs. You'd show up one weekend a month and two weeks a year unless your unit was activated.
