Happy 40th birthday, Todd!

Please don't drink yourself to death.

I don't get why it's baffling to people that Steve Harwell drank himself to death. The guy watched his infant son die painfully and slowly of terminal cancer and never got over it.

If anything, being forced to sing cheerful pop rock songs to an audience filled with families and children singing and dancing along probably ate at the gaping wound within him more than some brooding artist singing about their mental scars.

I find it funny how a commenter replying to Todd had pretty much the same conclusion you did, but all Todd himself can come up with is “I can’t tell you why, it’s just different”.

Not being able to articulate an opinion really makes me not think to highly of Todd as a critic, let alone one of the people propped up as one of the biggest and most recognizable names on YouTube when it comes to talking about music.

It's funny that he's never been that good at the analysis part, he even openly admits he's usually more wrong than right, but he keeps it going. Before he did videos, he worked as a journalist, which could be why his strengths lie in stuff like One Hit Wonderland or Trainwreckords. He's a reporter by nature, and good reporters deliver the facts as best they can while keeping the reader/viewer engaged. And that's why those shows work better, other people have done the work for him and there are plenty of interviews and think pieces he can read through and repackage.

I do wish he'd focus more on that stuff, though I understand the trending songs are the ones that get better hits.

AdoseofBuckley has a similar theme to his content, though somehow he maintains a more mature and ironic air — probably because he is indeed older, and I suspect he doesn't take himself nearly as seriously as Todd does.
Is aduncenamedBuckley even still around?
Also I really lost interest in Todd after change the channel because everyone on it started revealing how woke they all are, then there's the inconsistencies in the document itself.

I don't know why nobody posted his face yet.

This is the real reason he didn't show his face. He's not very attractive.
"Thank you, come again"

If you were wondering why Todd randomly decided to cuck out on twitter, and in his latest video to defend Will and Jada, I suspect it's the bad influence of his peers. Maggie Mae Fish has her own history of brain dead takes
Maggie may fish is beyond schizo. I can't believe more people don't talk about her as a feminist lolcow.

Yes he is. Kind of surprised nobody on here talks that much about him.

Funny, Todd wasn’t part of #CTC except for the fact that he used the smoke to leave TGWTG. Also, I only stopped following Todd since most of his videos didn’t interest me aside from One Hit Wonderland (Pop songs and his Top 10s because I do not really follow the modern music scene that much, and Trainwreckords I never really cared for because I don’t follow artists and albums that much, and also I’d argue that “artist being nowhere near as popular as they once were” isn’t really an interesting topic to explore IMO. Maybe that’s just me.

I’d also add that his whole “stop on the word ‘stop’ thing really grinds my gears. He calls it his “favorite cliche in music”, made a Google doc/sheet for it, made a video for it, made a statement saying that he’ll have an always updating video behind a paywall for it, asks people to provide him examples of it, made rules to talk about what qualifies, and even put in a top 10 list of THAT in his best songs of 2023 list because the #1 song in that countdown (“Bad Idea, Right?” By Olivia Rodrigo) contained that….and to my knowledge, he’s NEVER explained why he likes it this much, let alone why he documents it as much as he does. No pinned comment, no replies on YouTube or Twitter, no interviews, no video explanation (or at least a part of a video), NOTHING! He gave explanations for his Top 10 groin shots in movies and his Top 10 90s buses, so why not explain something he likes in the field he spends his time talking about for what I assume is a living? Hell, even if it doesn’t meet Todd’s criteria because he laid out rules for it, I feel I get a better understanding and appreciation for…this…in this Family Guy clip:

If Todd can’t explain what he likes about music when it comes to a certain part of it, what makes me think his opinion on bigger things like songs and artists and albums is worth a damn? Also, say what you want about Seth Macfarlane and his gags that go on too long or are too many, but when they land, they freaking land.

never have I heard a better encapsulation of this man's social circle
My God the sadness in that statement Todd provided.

New Trainwreckords episode up on YouTube!
I think I'll just stop watching Todd altogether. He's just getting increasingly bitter and pointless. I feel like I'm supposed to hate Justin Timberlake now, but he can't quite put together a thesis as to why. Every point he raises he pulls back immediately.
He's not to blame for the Britney and Janet stuff? Or maybe he is? It gets eluded to endlessly but he doesn't make any solid points with it and I don't see how it relates to his 2018 album flopping. Which is mostly good or inoffensive songs anyway?
Then there's that racial animus coming through whenever Todd has to talk about (ugh!) white people. From starting of with a visibly feminist lady complaining about "appropriating black culture" to how Beyonce's country album, unlike Justin's, wasn't pointless because at least she complained about racism. Of course, as a "mediocre white man"(sic) Justin has no right to complain about racism in that lane, so what is he to do? He makes a melodramatic anti Trump song and Todd calls him a "doomsday prepper" for it, he makes a more subtle anti Trump song and Todd complains it's not blunt enough.
And all of that is peppered with these random mean jabs "his weird anti-vax wife" "backstabbing weasel" that don't even seem to relate anything.

And to think, Trainwreckords is said to be his BETTER output. The stuff that people have said helps to keep him from being a true lolcow.

I feel like you didn't really listen to what he said. Right off the bat he established that this video was meant to be a bit of a defense for Justin. He brought up the Britney and Janet stuff to set the scene for why there was such a strong anti-Justin sentiment out there but he himself downplays the severity of the transgressions Justin committed against the two. His conclusion is that the Justin hate brigade had little to do with the album flopping and it was just an underwhelming album that would have flopped even if Justin didn't have the Britney and Janet stans against him.

His most scathing comment against Justin was his recent dwi arrest which he thinks makes him attempting to defend Justin more awkward, more so than any of the other things he mentioned in the video. This clearly wasn't intended to be a take down of Timberlake.

Yes, and he contradicts his establishment by being overall negative in the video itself, drawing on irrelevant stuff like Britney/Janet/Trump/anit-vaxxers.
I think Lindsay Ellis's best friend knows exactly what he's doing when he has a feminist accuse JT of blacksploitation never to contradict her, then goes on a tour of JT's failures during the Trump years, including exploiting a guy beaten to death by cops, to end on a note of how Beyonce is a better anti-racist and country artist.

His conclusion is that the Justin hate brigade had little to do with the album flopping and it was just an underwhelming album that would have flopped even if Justin didn't have the Britney and Janet stans against him.
He goes on about that stuff for half the video so when he concludes he doesn't know if it effected the overall sucess he's just admitting he's wasting time. Of course, by even entertaining the various allegations to this degree and ending on "Who knows?" he is supporting them as at least credible.
Were Britney Spears stans even against him in 2018? They broke up in 2002 and Todd draws on her 2023 memoir, but why should that be relevant to an album from 2018 in the first place? That's Todd's framing to begin with!
