Just came across this old photo of Todd and various breadtubers at Lindsay Ellis's wedding:

I have nothing further to add, it just makes me laugh.
I'd also facepalm if I found myself in this situation.

Late to the Best list discussion, w/e, these videos are always his least interesting & if it weren't for some deep sense of obligation I wouldn't have watched it. Not Like Us in the lower half is surprising, considering he's been spouting off about it for the last eight months without pause.

I wish Todd had a more concrete set of criteria for his rankings beyond "good vibes". Chappell Roan can write a decent hook (if nothing else), but her music is at its core the same eighties-revival synthpop sludge we've been hearing for well over a decade. If you're going to rank a song #1 of the year it should be at the very least innovative.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Die With A Smile" should've been #1. I haven't heard a song that sounds like it in a long while.

After Drake drops his collab album with PARTYNEXTDOOR this Friday, could he please for the love of God move on and talk about something else? Can he please get a new hyperfixation? Can two other black guys please start beefing so he can focus on that instead?
The feud between Dr. Dre and Easy E was funny back in the day, but the last one I recall was the Biggie and Tupac brouhaha. I had a co-worker show me the Kendrick video and explain the entire fracas to me, but I just don't care. The only song I know by Lamar is "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe." Talking about Todd's latest cringy video, it's so embarrassing when he says he wishes he was cool and gay but is boring and straight. That whole rant was pure secondhand embarrassment.

Not since Meghan Trainor did to fifties-flavoured radio pop what Reactor No. 4 did to Pripyat. It's a pretty good song, yeah, but the genre is tainted.

I would've given #1 to Billie -- Birds of a Feather feels like a natural progression of the moody altpop she's known for.

That's a good choice, too. That song always gives me goosebumps.

Combined with Trump completely bending Trudeau to his will hours after announcing tariffs, Kendrick doing this performance seems like a giant 'fuck you' to Canada. And Trump was watching the whole thing from the presidential box.

Which is pretty funny, but surely people are over the whole anti-Drake thing now? Hell, I'm rooting for Drake to uncover some serious dirt on Kendrick at this point.
Haven’t really checked, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole thing was just the same memes of Kendrick looking into the camera when he says “Say, Drake, I hear you like em young” and the same talk about Drake having a bad time (I still remember one person wondering if Drake was placed under suicide watch) along with the same talk of hoping to aspire to Kendrick Lamar’s level of being a hater.

Case in point, Marzgurl vs Vic Mignogna:

What happened to being tired? What happened to being done with it all?

But that's just what a liar does.

It's all so tiresome.

I can only think the reason Todd doesn’t is because he thinks “a gradual tapering off” is way less impressive than straight up crashing and burning.
Pretty much. Apparently when he started Trainwreckords, a lot of people asked him to cover Cyndi Lauper, but he said no because her career just fizzled out, there wasn't one big flop that was a terrible idea.

Which is a shame because I feel like a show where he just talks about albums regardless of quality could be good. Or even a retrospective for someone's career like how he does OHW, just giving an oversight on someone who was big for a while and then fell out of favor. Or died young, like Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix or Kurt Cobain.

Though he was smart enough to save Barbie Girl for when the movie came out. Which is funny because I knew girls in school who had that Aqua album and played Dr Jones so much I thought it was a hit.

I know what you mean. And it seems that what your opinion on the halftime show seems to depend on your politics or your skin color. Nothing really objective, at least from what I’ve seen.
Same with the Grammy for AOTY.

Kendrick can't just be needlessly be extending a beef for people who like to revel in their own sense of superiority, the same way the Grammy voters decided to give Beyonce the AOTY award because of any combination of having been robbed multiple times of it, or that the voters are perceived to hate black people and this is compensation, or Jay-Z paid off the Grammy voters, or the year was just weak. Nope, you're a racist if you think Beyonce posing as a country artist didn't deserve heaps of praise.

That's exactly what I mean when I was talking about artists who don't really fit either OHW or Trainwreckords criteria. And Cyndi Lauper is actually a perfect example of that: was big, has hits that stand the test of time, but no one really talks about her as an artist anymore.

From what I gather, it was not popular in Austria or Germany. In part, it's because Hollywood portrayals of non American cultures aren't always well-received in the country of origin of said culture, but also because there already was a highly popular German movie about the Trapp family, Die Trapp-Familie (1956). However, in other parts of (non-Eastern) Europe, it was mostly a success, and definitely not pulled from any cinemas because of protests from European Hollywood actors. I know for sure that it was a success where I live.

It seems like this guy (and by extension Todd) is partially making stuff up and partially applying the Austrian experience to a whole continent.

I'm not sure it was even shown in Austria at the time of release, that's why most Austrians have never seen it. It's not because they thought it was immoral or offensive or anything.

Todd's just doing the typical "X popular thing is super-problematic ackshually and I'm superior because I can see how problematic it is" thing that they do. The Nazis are literally the villains in the story, what more does he want?

Well it needs some kind of overt symbolism of their opinions on fascism in it.

Oh.

(BTW, check the comments to that video. You would have thought some of those people fought in the trenches the way they react.)
