Where the heck is March's video?
Here's April's monthly slop instead:

I legitimately have never heard of this song or band in my life even though it's supposed to be a gay anthem when I have a lot of alphabet friends. Then again, I was not born in a British penal colony either.

His obvious discomfort when talking about gay shit as the typical libcuck straight ally cracks me up, though.

I remember it being used a lot in AMVs back in the day. I just checked Youtube and a bunch of them are still up. Is "gay anthem" code for "terminally online"?

As someone who likes this song, I greatly enjoyed the video. I hope one of the donators forced Todd to do "Stacy's Mom", I feel like that one has been a long time coming (and yes I do think it counts as a One Hit Wonder).

Back when MTV and MTV2 played music videos, they constantly promoted their music videos as "buzz clips" and used their songs on live action shows. I can't say I constantly listened to them, but they had a great pop punk sound that eventually transitioned to electronic. That'd FoW episode would be interesting. I'm sure there'd be lots of talk about toxic masculinity, MILFs and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The first Fountains of Wayne album had lots of great tracks, especially "Sink to the Bottom" and reminded me a lot of the first Weezer album. It's a shame that Schlesinger died from coof complications.

Score. I didn't know the Veronicas were one-hit wonders in the States, and I definitely wouldn't have guessed Untouched to be the one hit, but that song rips so I'm not complaining. Now Todd just needs to do an episode on Torn by Natalie Imbruglia and he's covered every major Australian cultural export.

His obvious discomfort when talking about gay shit as the typical libcuck straight ally cracks me up, though.
Todd's too scared of making YouTube commenters mad to make interesting insights about anything.

The most frustrating bit is when he's clearly gearing up to make a point just to pull a verbal about-turn at the last minute -- it happens literally ALL THE TIME. I wish he'd just give me his hot takes so I could come away from his videos thinking about something. He's been analysing pop music for what, fifteen years?

It's two flamboyantly-dressed women yelling nonsense garble over a thumping electropop beat -- of course gays like it. There aren't a lot of pop hits that drive that hard.

There’s still Kylie Minogue if you’re only talking about music. And INXS. And he’s disqualified Men at Work because he doesn’t consider them one hit wonders (their two mega hits both reached #1 in the US, which I guess is the clearest definition of a “hit” there is).

He first did videos in 2009, and in his Worst Songs of 2004 video and his From The Vaults on “Down” by Jay Sean, he mentioned writing about music on a long gone blog/Livejournal.

Ah, the pitfalls of being an associate of the BreadTube crowd (yes, I’m aware I’m making BreadTube sound like a mafia. And I have my doubts if Todd would end up being “made” because politics and drama aren’t really the things you’d find in his videos, but he cheers those folks on and hangs out in that circle).

He's an ally of mine vs He's an ally of ours

That blog is true lost media. Didn't he say he'd written some movie or music reviews for a local VA newspaper too?

You're telling me KYLIE is a one hit wonder? Do Yanks listen to anything?? She's a Madonna-tier popstar over here.

In the States all she's got as a hit is 'Can't Get You Out of My Head', and the only other time she's popped onto the US pop culture radar was when she played Cammy in the Street Fighter movie.
I guess the question is if she’s so big there’s no way she can be justified as a one hit wonder. It’s kind of funny how little Australian artists get American airplay, and the last one was Iggy Azalea.

Well I do remember at least one other time she got some American attention, even if it was made in the UK

I haven't heard it till a few years ago and it's a decent power pop song that's better than the rest of their discography. The best part of the video was watching him get all mealy mouthed about his long distance "relationship" with Lindsey and pretending he understands. It's pretty clear at this point he's such a coward he either doesn't have any or won't admit to having opinions of his own, he just goes with popular thing and if that changes then he's now on board. I remember him saying something about Carly Rae Jepson's "Run away with me" not being a hit when it came out but it being the best pop song he'd ever heard (he's right about that) so it was an honorable mention for the year (2014?) Instead of just ranking it over whatever the rest of the garbage was that year.

There's a joke to be made there with his handle being Todd in the Shadows but I'll let someone else write that.

Youtube (((music reviewers))) have to do this autistically for year-end 'best hit songs' lists so that they can get the ad revenue from the average normie who wants their opinions validated that the music propped up by big record labels and Tiktok's algorithm are certainly worth celebrating. It's mostly people who do not have enough critical thinking skills to see past Fantano's faggotry or the people who will feel most validated by his uploaded opinions who will watch a music reviewer talk about how Michael Gira, Nick Cave, or an indie country singer-songwriter describing the lawless decay in remote small town Appalachia made the best new music to come out that year.

I do love that song and still listen to the album it's in quite frequently.
