Tom Clancy's The Division

The raid has been delayed until next month so Massive can focus on balance, quality of life and a few other changes now that the PC test server is live.

At the moment they've reduced enemy damage and defense across the board (massive changes to hard difficulty, slightly less to challenging) and are still working on the tankiness of enemies in larger groups. In the near future they're looking at changing and tweaking the AI, as due to the HP scaling enemies become way too aggressive at the higher end - Massive have identified a few bugs where, hilariously, this scaling gives the AI far too much confidence and it happily ignores cover knowing that it can survive while the player won't.

Theres a few balance changes as well; something Reddit is burning down because of, but I haven't noticed anything too bad beyond a few stat requirements being raised for some weapon and gear talents.

Their communication in all of this has been fantastic.

I love in the Eurogamer review where they say something like "I don't know why the base of operations is the White House."

Because the reinforced bunker under the west wing and hard ties to the country's communications infrastructure and the symbolism of ordered society triumphing over anarchy are clearly unknowable to Eurofags.

Tell that to MarcoStyle or 21Kiloton, both got blocked by one of the devs.
Marco and his ilk are a lot of the reasons Div1 had such messed up DZ gameplay. Offensive skill powers got nerfed because Marco made noise about it. Stamina became king of the DZ and Striker became the set to have because Marco and the other streamers favored it. Instead of using metrics and hard numbers and heatmaps, Massive used a tiny group of the community to work their balance teams.

Don't worry I'm sure reddit, resetERA and the other major games media will put the pressure on eventually. You aren't allowed to ignore them. For example, Heroes of the Storm basically did everything reddit and the big name streamers told them to do. And now it's virtually dead, they don't even have a game director.

I dunno, I suspect Reddit might get sidelined. They gave a pretty solid fuck you to Marco by ignoring him, and he was seen as some weird community leader with the first game.

They'll undoubtedly roll back some of these changes, but they haven't seemed to buckle under reddit outcry so far.

Title Update 3 next week, raid will be included but won't be active for a few days.

Worth reading through the changes, though. A lot of QOL tweaks, but also buffs to loot, and changes to make end game content more rewarding - as things stand right now there's precious little reason to run, say, Heroic missions over Hard or even Normal sometimes.

Next to the shit show that is Anthem...

Mini gunner is the next weapon specialisation.

When activated, The Gunner receive bonus armour based on the amount of Specialization ammunition they are carrying and can easily tank incoming damage for short periods of time while using their Minigun to suppress their enemies. There's a catch though – when the weapon is drawn, the Gunner can't enter cover, vault or roll.

To get enemies out in the open, the Gunner comes with the Banshee Signature Skill, which ignores cover and causes its targets to become confused. When an enemy stumble out of cover is the perfect opportunity for the Gunner to use their special grenade – the Riot Foam grenade – trapping the enemy in place.

The specialization comes with a new skill tree and the P320 XCompact sidearm.

The Gunner will be available to test on the Public Test Server, opening on June 4th, in order get as much feedback on it before it is released on the Live servers in Title Update 4, coming in June 2019. Please join us on the official forums and tell us about your experiences with it.

SPECIAL FIELD RESEARCH
While the three previous Specializations are automatically available to you when reaching level 30, to unlock Gunner you need to take on Special Field Research: five stages of in-game challenges, each with their own set of objectives and rewards. By completing all five stages, you will gain access to the Gunner Specialization and the newest signature weapon in the SHD arsenal.

If you have the Year 1 Pass, you will instantly unlock the Gunner Specialization. You can still take on the Special Field Research, but as you progress through the stages you will unlock additional, exclusive cosmetic rewards; the Fisticuffs and Front Flex emotes, Charcoal and Detritus gear dyes, Rosethorn and Pineapple weapon skins, the Gunner mask and the Gunner specialization uniform.

The Special Field Research will be available on the Public Test Server, but on the PTS you will not have to complete it to give the Gunner a go.

FAQ:

Since Pass players get immediate access to the specialization, doesn't this create a gameplay advantage?
Specializations have abilities and specialized weapons tailored to specific playstyles. Though Year 1 Pass owners will have the benefit of instant access to new Specializations, all players will be able to unlock them through gameplay. All Specializations have different strengths and weaknesses, and appeal to different playstyles and tactical situations. The new Specializations will offer the same tier of power as other Specializations.
Is Year 1 Pass the only option to instantly access the specialization and earning the cosmetic rewards?
Players interested in the Gunner specialization access and earnable cosmetic rewards, can either secure it through the Year 1 Pass, or purchase a Gunner ‘Specialization Pack' for Premium Credits on the in-game store, which will entitle them to the same benefits for the Gunner specialization.
Note that Year 1 Pass comes with similar benefits for the remaining 2 specializations coming later in Year 1, as well as host of other content & perks. Discover what Pass has to offer here.
Can I still get the cosmetic rewards if I start the Specialization Field Research without the Pass?
Yes. You can upgrade to Year 1 Pass at any point. The moment you get Year 1 Pass, you will immediately unlock Gunner (if you have not finished the research just yet), as well as get the cosmetic rewards you have earned, depending on which stage you are at.
Even if you unlocked the Specialization without the Pass, once you purchase it, you will immediately unlock all cosmetic rewards, including the uniform.

I didn't give a shit about The Division, but I may just have to get The Division 2 on account of the setting. Fallout 3 wasn't that great in hindsight, but I loved being able to explore the ruins of Washington, DC, especially fighting through museums and the White House, the Capitol. If The Division 2 is like that (sounds like it is), that may be worth getting.

Surprising nobody, the global events from Div 1 are set to make a comeback with Div 2. There's currently placeholder text and tutorial pop-ups for them on the test server, but no actual details.

Honestly, I've been playing Div1 a lot more than Div2 lately. The, for lack of a better term, "new car smell" of the raid wore off, and now it's just a big grindfest again till the first DLC.

Meanwhile, I managed to hit endgame in Div1 recently, and I gotta say, Survival and Underground are a fucking blast. Hell, they even brought global events back, which I think kinda says something about the current fun-factor of Div2.

That's just me, though.

Played through the story of division 2, gameplay is quite fun but repetitive. Then they give you a big middle finger and reset all your world map progress without asking you... Nah Im good fam. Might go back and play all the story missions on hard when I feel like it.

Man I need to go back to Div 1 and see if I can finally finish Survival, I always get killed by those hunter bastards.

The biggest criticism Division 1 faced was how its world map was empty and pointless once the campaign was over. The arrival of the Black Tusk was a direct response to that.

I understand, and if I had finished everything I would have wanted something new too. But how it's implemented is a bit frustrating for players that only just finished the campaign.
