Either Nintendo is dodging the LGBTQ+ Controversy or they genuinely are not interested in money then I don't know.
They’re definitely dodging the LGBTQ+ controversy, especially after their apology. They backed themselves into a corner with how they worded it. But they also probably thought about the statistics of acceptance of gay relationships and marriage across the world or parts of the world that got different versions of the game (US/JP/EU/SK, UK and AUS versions are part of the EU version). Maybe they’re waiting until there’s more acceptance towards LGBTQ+?

If they went ahead and made another Tomodachi game without adding gay marriage the spergs would point out Nintendo’s original apology and some normies would definitely complain and seethe (especially in this day and age). If they added gay marriage the spergs would complain that it’s not enough and that troonism or some fag shit would be needed (technically you can be a troon in the game already…)

“We apologize for disappointing many people by failing to include same-sex relationships in Tomodachi Life. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to change this game’s design, and such a significant development change can’t be accomplished with a post-ship patch. At Nintendo, dedication has always meant going beyond the games to promote a sense of community, and to share a spirit of fun and joy. We are committed to advancing our longtime company values of fun and entertainment for everyone. We pledge that if we create a next installment in the Tomodachi series, we will strive to design a game-play experience from the ground up that is more inclusive, and better represents all players.” https://time.com/94738/nintendo-apology-tomodachi-life/
CNN article includes a man protesting about no gay marriage and made a whole campaign about it, he makes a fair point about how relationships are a big component of the game https://www.cnn.com/2014/05/08/tech/gaming-gadgets/nintendo-game-gay-protest/index.html

Alright boys and gals, are we gonna get the game or not on Switch?
I doubt there will be another Tomodachi Life or MiiTopia on the switch because the switch’s lifecycle is near it’s end, maybe a second MiiTopia on the switch 2 because of the nature of the game. Tomodachi though? probably not, not anytime in 5 years from now at least. I hope to be proven wrong though…

You can eat your words because it's coming in 2026.

It'll probably be on switch 2 as a cross gen release. It's really funny cause when the Rhythm heaven trailer came on I was like "no way is that tomodachi life" and then it wasn't but then it was. I swear whenever Nintendo gets my hopes up they apologize instantly. When the new princess peach game was revealed with the opening curtains I was like "NO WAY TTYD REMAKE ON SWITCH???" then next direct they announced it

I always wished for a Tomodachi sequel but didn't actually expect it to happen because it felt like Nintendo were distancing themselves more from Miis in the Switch era and the whole gay marriage debacle.
I'm very excited about this announcement and hope they add just a little more player input into the game and up the customization more.
From the trailer it looks like they use a more advanced version than the regular Mii Maker with a system closer to Miitopia which had amazing customization.
But now I wonder how they will handle marriage and children?

I'm pretty sure they will hold onto their promise we'll have to see.
