If you don't mind overt Christian content, this NES game is fun.

have been playing titan quest 2 this week and i liked it
not every mastery is in the game yet though
and it has only greece chapter
but its pretty and plays pretty good

The Xak series. If you don't feel like messing with MSX emulation, the first Xak game for SNES was English patched awhile ago. Xak III for Turbo CD has a partial patch. The cutscenes aren't translated.

Warm Snow, a chinkware Hades copy that's way better than Hades:
the chinks love their gambling and I usually hate it but the rng in this game goes hard as fuck

also torchlight 2 and grim dawn will always be the greatest goats of all time.

I'm late here but if anyone likes really tight zelda-puzzle-room style design, Prodigal cause is better than zelda at it and really gets that nog joggin. Combat is simple but fine too, a lot of bosses because the game has a fuckton of dungeos, including post game ones. I didn't finish it but i recommend it.

The main issue is that you don't really get many tools. You have attack, rope, warp claw and punch and i think some upgrades and thats it. They squeeze the hell of them mechanically tho. The sprint is also locked behind either eating food that goes away after you die or doing this longass "trade with every npc" quest to get boots and i recommend using a guide for it.

You can also date a rather large amount of different girls after annoying hidden requirements and marry one, which i think is mandatory later. But they're all kinda one dimensional and the game story is not really that deep.

I didn't play veritus but i assume it's solid too, but it has rpg loot and can be finished very fast if you get the right thing and go the right place.

Crosscode doesn't need more praise so i'll mention pipistrello for anyone who likes crosscode or zelda. I'd argue it's way more deep than zelda and has a pretty good balance of high quality combat, puzzles and platforming. It feels like a nintendo game with how much the game can use one single button mechanic (yo-yo) in EVERYTHING and keep building itself. The yoyo hits, pulls, carries, bounces, trigger switches, holds switches, etc it does everything with 1 button and you have 2 extra buttons.

They got the castlevania composer for some tracks too and you can instantly tell which ones were made by them after walking a bit lol.
