Reminder: to these people, there is no such thing as a platonic relationship.
Which is part of a bigger problem I have with shows with a primarly female cast.
Ah. Yeah. This may be quite a MATI post, but I hate all these people who have some need to turn characters gay in whatever media. Like, what the fuck? Is it possible to watch something and not immediately think about who kisses or fucks who? I am so tired of all these shipper, yuri and yaoi-fags.
I used to lurk in some Discord (Fatal mistake!) dedicated to an indie game that also featured an all-female cast. It was interesting to see what people would talk about, strategies, some made arts, and yeah, there would be occasionaly some yuri related jokes, but not so often it becomes obnoxious. But after some time since game's release, a bunch of people flood in, and it feels like any of the "artists", or should I say, "drawers" dominated the arts with all the shipping shit. And no one could really say anything against those as tranny jannies would quickly get rid of you, even if you just leave a "mean react" under some of the posts (Be nice, or else!). It doesn't sound like much, but god damn it pissed me off.

Since the thread's split between things we dislike and things we like, does anyone know who does these Tails Gets Trolled but Touhou images? I find them humorous, but I don't know if they're just redraws of the original or not because I never read it.

Im pretty sure it's probably been said before, but the entire reason this thread exists, and toughou is notorious for it's porn scene, is because, let's say the community is 80% sane, genuenly wholesome people who like the game and make SFW/wholesome fanart out of passion, and 20% fucked up obese autistic shut ins. HOWEVER, when the 80% sane people make 20% of the cumulative overall fanwork (minus the porn), but the 20% autistic shut ins pump out the most vile shit you've ever seen at industrial scales, to the degree where it comprises the other 80% of said cumulative artwork, and then dissiminate that everywhere, well, then it's simply impossible to ignore. Even if the ratio is much lower, i.e. the porn is a much lower percentage, if it's dissiminated and talked about everywhere, then you see what im getting at.

It's amusing to read those older posts now that gachashit has taken over the mantle of being the sexualized video game genre in the present times. The cosplay nerds and 4chan browsers were always there but it seems like even back then, some users here didn't think making porn calls for a Community Watch thread. It's the little reminders of yester-year when looking at those images was still considered taboo to the masses, especially if it were anime based.

I recall seeing a post from somewhere that calculated how much of the series' fan artwork is sexual but I lost the bookmark for that one sadly. Knowing how much of it there is, it really puts things into question on how many people were introduced to Touhou through those promiscuous pictures. I had my start through IOSYS videos and doujin circle remixes of the games' music like many also did so what experiences do we have here on being introduced?

and 20% fucked up obese autistic shut ins.
And yet it looks like I keep running into these over the internet. I wonder if it's one of those situations where "am I the problem" is applicable? Or perhaps it's just that no one sane congregates into these subcommunities that use Discord.

I recall there being that one guy from Moriya farms who did long posts did make a thread that calculated how many nsfw works there were per character, and it had another table that correlates % of nsfw stuff to sfw. And there was another post from the Moriya thread that was linked here not too long ago that was looking into amount of works and their % of nsfw stuff in various popular gacha franchises and Touhou.

so what experiences do we have here on being introduced?
I mostly got into Touhou when looking for more shmups to play as I've heard about that fabled "touhou difficulty", and whereas there are some better shmups, Touhou still has some neat worldbuilding and I did find some characters to be somewhat relatable. Though I've mostly did "research" through some of the wikis, and I recall some of them had those dubious shipping wars happening in the trivia edits. Oh, and before deciding on looking more into Touhou, I do recall running into various Team Fortress 2 related crossovers such as music videos like October First or the freak fortress bosses, as I may have mentioned.

I got introduced indirectly via Bad Apple. Really liked the cover and video, but took me some time to figure out it was from Touhou, but never took the initiative to learn more at that time. Instead, youtube kept recommending me stuff related to it. In particular, it was midi covers of necrofantasia and "Death Waltz" (a midi cover of Last Brutal Sister Flandre S). The commenters on the latter video claimed it was a cover of UN Owen was Her (took me years to eventuallt figure out the real cover). Searched UN Owen, and youtube kept recommending other OST tracks, until I'd listened to nearly all official tracks.

I think it was bad apple, got a bit curious, found out that it's a touhou thing, said, "alright sure lemme check it out" 1 torrent and several hours later it finally downloaded, tried playing it, it was incredibly difficult to me, said "fuck this, this is shit" and promptly deleted it and haven't looked back at it ever since.

Earliest things I'm 100% on are being sent IOSYS videos and xi-on remixes. Before that I ran into stuff in Fraxy and probably MUGEN as well, but had no idea what it was.

The first game I played was UFO. I fell for the no ezmodo no bombing meme so I got assfucked and getting past stage 3 felt like a miracle. Think it took a couple of months before I beat it.

Definitely through one of the fan songs. Can't remember for certain if it was an IOSYS one or "Kero Destiny" (Suwako best god), but I ended up discovering gameplay and my autistic neuron activated seeing all the pretty patterns. That was, what, more than 13 years ago?

It was either IOSYS, Salty Bet, or Scarlet Weather Rhapsody gameplay. I think I first directly interacted with the series with the print works and manga.
