It took me a little bit but I have obtained some very enticing posts I'd like to share with the thread. Right on time for the special coverage of THFest '25.

I implore the rest of you to look over more of these nerd convention recordings on X and Instagram if you want to share something. While I'm sure there's a ton I didn't find yet, here's what I gathered for this one.

Enjoy the treasure trove, 2hukiwis.

IDK how to explain it, but despite putting an order of magnitude more hours into IN, I've 1CC'd UFO and haven't done so for IN. Then again, I also didn't sperg about getting the "right" UFOs every time, so that probably led me to take fewer risks and suffer fewer easily-avoidable deaths than I would've if I were to sperg about optimization.
What difficulties are we talking about here? I've got tons of Normal clears, some Hard clears, and a few Extra clears, and to me, IN's a guaranteed win on Normal, but if I fight for it Hard is within reach. Meanwhile I have two Normal clears on UFO because that game's a bit of an asshole in my experience.

Of course, I do play IN way more than UFO, so that also could a possible factor. The Malice Cannon is just way too much fun, and IN has probably the best overall OST of any game in the series.

Well now is my turn to share what i found while looking to the Touhou fest hashtag, and no controversies this year to be fair:

I stubbornly wanted to start with EoSD because it's the OG on Win and also the most "vanilla", figured id just git gud and then go chronologically. It's tough though I can't lie. Best I've done on 1 credit was just barely getting to boss on stg 5
Everyone tells newcomers to the series to start with PCB or IN since EoSD is "too hard" but I'd disagree on that. Only big difference is the absence of the hitbox and shield mechanic and these don't really matter that much in the grand scheme of things. If you keep at it you can 1cc EoSD in like a month and learn a lot about patience and tactics through trial and error which you'd certainly need in other difficulties, extra stages and later titles (UFO, SA, LoLK).
Also the OST, setting and characters of EoSD are just peak

I knew this going in and it also influenced my decision to start with EoSD, figured if I can just master that without the need for a hitbox it'd set me up well for future games or other shmups. Rather just Dark Souls it and get good the hard way.

I also disagree with anyone who thinks EoSD is too hard for newcomers. I think it's the perfect training ground, since it's "mechanically pure" compared to any of its sequels, and the patterns on Normal are much simpler. It's perfect for building up the fundamentals like streaming and micro-dodging, instead of building up bad habits like overreliance on the Cherry Shield from PCB. When I first got into the series, I literally played it for a month straight, and pulled off my first-ever 1cc, and only then did I start branching out to PCB and IN.

You really don't need the hitboxes to know where they are. Reimu's hitbox is on her lower back, while Marisa's is on the knot of her apron's bow. If you can keep those spots in mind when trying to micro-dodge, you don't need a hitbox sprite.

I think this fits here, a while ago a friend of mine found out this guy, "hituzi_tadano" (aka ただのヒツジ) who seems to be a grown man who owns many touhou plushes and sex dolls, that's right, he owns touhou sex dolls

on his social media bios and pinned posts, he says he block anyone who brings up the fact the "dolls" on his photos and videos are sex dolls, but in a twitter/x post he admitted the dolls on this context are sex dolls, but claims he doesn't do anything naughty to them (which i doubt since sex dolls are usually very expensive, and if he did what he claims to do, he would have bought mannequins since they are much cheaper than sex dolls)

i don't know if any links to his social media will be necessary, but i think you can get the point
That guy's videos are trending again.

Some insight from someone I happened to see while looking through

YouTube sent me a trailer for what is essentially a Touhou-themed Harvest Moon clone.
It's Western-produced, so who knows how pozzed they'll try to make it. From the Steam page, they state that they will allow you to engage in yuri romance with other characters, but Touhou has had a very long history with yuri shipping, so I guess I'll just have to wait to see how that pans out.

I do like that they incorporated bullet hell elements into a farming game, though, even if the patterns appear to be lifted whole-sale from the original games.

Yeah, saw this a few months ago on steam myself.

Neat enough concept, but yeah I'm not touching this until I see how much pozz stank is on it.

Seems like we're further confirming what we already knew from Nazucos. I know these conventions aren't the most secure compared to something like AX or AWA. But everything I'm reading here seems like standard mismanagement of smaller conventions filled with people who aren't fit to run them.

Honestly, I'm more curious about what is the story with Spaztique and this Nova guy because there's something we're not seeing. Since I always knew the people who like Walfas in general are very strange, I think I should ask: does anyone here have any experiences with this fan group?

Finally, here's the permanent archives for the two documents:

I'm seeing some TouhouFest videos on instagram and... Better call it TroonFest, Jesus Christ. It's pretty sad.
I remember being actually shocked when I first saw footage of the event. It was a wheres Waldo challenge trying to find a single white skinned person in the crowds. I was memeing with my... well... wouldn't go as far as to say "friends" about haha whitest 2hutranny ever but apparently that's because LA residents are brown even by mutt standards. The more you know...
