I don't like how two-faced this Wirtual guy is. When he originally covered Blackq in the 92bob video, he said the ip-grabbing was a questionable tactic, but then in this video he said it was completely unacceptable. Like seriously bro if you're gonna moral fag, then choose a side to moral fag on.

Doesn't change that this game is still very clearly living in this Riolu guy's head rent free though. Guy must have some serious unsolved business.

I know this sentiment has been expressed before but what is exactly that makes Wirtual so unlikeable for many? Is it mostly because he presents himself as THE TrackMania guy, presenting himself as overly important or is there something more to it?
The first five seconds of his latest video, which already has over 1 million views, is enough to speak about his character as a whole. He’s an arrogant prick which has some sort of false messiah complex. He quite literally thinks he’s God’s gift to mankind for covering/“exposing” and selling out lifelong friends for drama-related Internet clout - for a game that maybe 500 people play (who all stream their gameplay for some reason).

He would sell his parents out if he could make a quick, entertaining video with his gay jazz music buildup if he could.

but it’s cool because the vibe, right guys?

Speedrun Streamer of the Year. When people get tired of laughing at Trackmania players, at least he can reflect upon moments like these for the rest of his life.

I think the other guy’s name is Doug. There’s speculation that Wirtual and this Doug guy boofed each other while his girlfriend took a bunch of pills with alcohol and passed out. Aren’t Wirtual’s nails pretty?

I don't mind his actual videos, but what made me stop watching him was when he dressed up as a maid or something like that for a fan request.

Having a fanbase who wants to debase you like that is a red flag already, but actually being willing to do so raises several more.

Forgive me if I don't know much of site lore, but as far as I know Alameen the 4'11" Tanzanian fake OSINT nigger had like 3 or 4 socks at most?
You're in for a treat. Two juicy lolcow OPs for you to read at your leisure. Neither Alameen nor Riolu hold a candle to these autists:

Yep, Wirtual's a faggot. If I recall, the maid dress is Scrapie's. The nail paint started last year. I have a faint recollection of Wirtual saying Finnster (I think) wanted to give him a makeover with makeup etc at a convention for streamers last year or the year before.

I know about Natsutalbott and Zoey, just didn't know the extent of sock accounts they operate. Jeez, lol

Back to Wirtual. When he does proper research with others like the last video on Riolu then it's all cool and good. But he does sensationalize stuff a lot when its the usual video essay. I also don't particularly like how he seems to often changes sides or is hypocritical about certain takes regarding the game such as cheating.

TMI: my custom title is from one of his streams. Like the dude or not it's still a pretty fucking hilarious Freudian slip.

Weekly shorts look fun. I've been enjoying Spam+Carljr videos of them lately.

I've got to ask: Are there any actual improvements from game to game? It seems like they are all just reskins from one another and the gameplay is largely kept the same. Aside from extra levels and visuals, is there a reason why you shouldn't just play Trackmania Nations games? They're the free ones, after all.

Some ups and downs. Visuals and the UI look worse in the newest game...
Cars are lighter in TM 2020. True environments aren't present anymore though. It's all stadium with different blocks. I want to say TM 2020 has QoL improvements, like fewer landing bugs, faster restart times and replaying checkpoints with entry speed/angle.

TMUF still has a good playerbase. They have player-hosted events and such. (watched a video of it on Marius89's channel last week)

The huge library of TMNF/TMUF fan tracks hasnt gone anywhere.

What about the games other than Nations/2020, are they just glorified texture packs? That's what my understanding is.

Errm. TM2 and TM Turbo have some different environments. The stadium mode's atypical. Much heavier car and -- with TM Turbo -- much more emphasis on drifting/highspeed and difficult to control.

I haven't played TM2, but I did watch this video which was shared in this thread:
Totally forgot that Ross Scott did a great video on one of these. Really drives home the point of the difficulty level.

Funnily enough that's by first experience watching Ross Scott (who later went on to spearhead the Stop Killing Games initiative).

Yeah, unless you play these games an awful lot, you will probably play the latest ones(TM2020) or play the free one(Nations/Nations United) instead of looking for small differences. Or just choose the setting you like and stick with it. No point in recommending any "best" games in that case.

Each TM2 game has a different control gimmick, Canyon being very open and heavily drift oriented, Valley having very tight roads and some off-road pseudo-drifting involved and Lagoon has very arcadey turn-on-the-dime controls. Fun fact is that if you own one TM2 game, you can KINDA play the other ones too, as there're like one-two official-ish servers that are cross-game, so when the server changes to a different game, you literally get the entire other game downloaded to your installation over maniaplanet. You'll only be able to play it while the server's hosting it though, but it's better than nothing,

The Wii TM game felt like a neat little DLC to TMNF. I think anyone that digs TMNF would discover it sooner or later.

TMUF have started doing monthly A08 track competitions (wavy ladder meme). Caught it on Marius89's channel:

They're supposed to have one of each environment + 1 environment-mixed map (8 total), but Island didn't appear this time around (bug maybe).

This was the second iteration -- the maps are a little rough around the edges. Looks fun though.

Saw the TrackMania thread got bumped. Got front row seats.

This series is fucking incredible. And that video is cool.

Can't believe they shouted out Wirtroon in the end of year post:

I haven't been playing TM lately. Might give it another run in the new year. I want them to release a new game but it doesn't look like it anytime soon.

Why bother waiting for a new game? It's all the same thing, just with different environments and tracks. I want to play the game too at some point, it's been nearly 20 years since I played it last but damn was it fun.

Oh I'm not waiting. Not playing anything anyway. TM2020 environments' aesthetics don't do it for me. Just, 5-6 years is plenty long enough. TM2020 fans are stuck in subscription hell/limbo.

I can't really expect Nintendo to reinvent a Wii for Nadeo to get off their arses to make a standalone game or anything anymore. As things look, it'll be iterative additions to TM2020 for the rest of the decade.
