You're kidding, right?

Sex has consequences, physical, mental, and emotional. Depending on the experience, a teen could regret it for the rest of their life, let alone the risk of pregnancy and disease. If someone is going to consent to sex, they have to be totally aware of all that goes along with it. Teenagers, by their very nature, are not. It's one thing to take these risks with other stupid teenagers, but when one party very clearly has power, status, and intelligence over the teen, then yes, it IS taking advantage of them, even if they say yes.

This ain't the hill you want to die on. It's still against the law.

First of all, depending on what variables of the experience? Obviously if the partner is abusive or inconsiderate of their needs things would be bad--but other teenagers can be like that to them.

I also don't really get how, in the case of pregnancy/disease, it's acceptable for teenagers to shoulder the risk with each other but not adults. Also, certain things can mitigate that risk by a lot. (Oral or gay sex both eliminate the pregnancy risk, for instance).

You're just being deliberately obtuse now. Stop. This isn't a battle you can win.

If you think having sex with an adult with ADHD is comparable in any way to having sex with a minor you are fucking retarded.

The difference between an ADHD brain and a normal adult brain is similarly unquantifiable (in terms of general abilities) as the difference between a minor's brain and an adults. Neurologically, an ADHD adult has synaptically pruned, though, I guess. though evidence suggests this isn't true of autistics, and while I'm not sure whether the experiment tested high or low functioning autistic brains, I suspect high-functioning autistic brains to have somewhat similar traits.

Anyway, what with the whole brain damage example being there too I think it's clear that neurobiology isn't enough to argue a group can't consent.

Let me ask you this then. Do you think a child would feel comfortable telling an adult, an authority figure, to stop? How easy do you think it would be for the adult to maintain control regardless of what the child wanted? The power imbalance is clear as fucking day.

The power imbalance can be mitigated, possibly with legal aid if you're worried about it that much (for instance, there could be signed legal documents to the effect of "if this child comes forward, we're arresting you without trial"--not perfect, really, but combine that with actions on the part of the adult that might allowing the minor to say no to a bunch of other things first to get them comfortable with it and it becomes pretty damn close).

Also, this raises another point, too--the power imbalance is pretty much eliminated when dealing with a prostitute/client relationship, where the adult is the prostitute. So, if we assume that power imbalance is what makes sex nonconsensual, wouldn't that mean that a minor would not have been raped if they had sex with a prostitute?

Nice job not following advice, keep this up and maybe you might get your very own thread unless the mods don't get tried of your shit and ban you.

I'm an adult with ADHD.

I had sex.

I consented to it.

Fuck you.

Ugh, this is like talking to a brick wall. Except the wall is in an unmarked white van....and is offering me candy at a play ground.

Serious question though, @Chained Divinity; are you a registered sex offender and have you been molested as a child? Arguing with you is getting us nowhere, so I want to get to the root of this problem and figure where you got these views from.
