I’ve been reading a mlm book recently and am reminded that I go into a depressive state every time. It’s just like… I’m never going to have that experience. Rationally, I know it must suck to grow up as a gay man in such an unaccepting world, but I’m jealous. My teenage years are almost gone and I haven’t even dated any guys. Do they think being gay is mutually exclusive with never being in a relationship in your teens or nobody crushing on you? You‘re statistically at a disadvantage in how many options you could have and if you are attracted to somebody you know, there’s an infinitesimal chance of them actually reciprocating your feelings. People breaking up because of being in the closet, societal pressure, no pda because this shit spread like wildfire in the past… It’s not as glamorous as yaoi makes it seem.
This is yet another case of gender ideas being rooted in abnormal patterns of thinking. They’re putting arbitrary standards on themselves that don’t reflect reality. It’s the same shit as teenagers who call themselves “asexual“ because they don’t have or think of sex all the time - because they‘re shut-ins with poor socialization who grew up on tv and movies and think you’re supposed to be fucking all the time. Could this point to autism that’s so common within these groups?
