Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

Hey, you know how Star Trek gets shit on for the Ferengi with people saying they're supposed to be Jewish stereotypes? How come Transformers never got the same amount of grief over the Quintessons?
I am to this day shocked that no one has taken the “Jew image” (you know the one) and made a Quintesson wojak. Even Scorponok has a wojak .

Rewatching S3 really really gets me thinking that the writers were low-key based.

I love the squids, Lovecraftian merchant lord tomb kings with a penchant for kangaroo courts. God bless drugs.

I love the fuckin' Quintessons. I don't know what they were smoking to come up with something that bizarre, but they're one of the most memorable villains ever. Shame they never showed up after G1 apart from the crap that was Energon.

The kangaroo court stuff is the funniest shit. Verdict does not matter because they're gonna kill you for wasting their time even if you're found innocent. For a while people misinterpreted it to mean "oh guilty and innocent mean the opposite" but no it's literally just they fucking hate you for wasting their time with a trial and/or just put you to trial to watch you squirm before they feed you to their pet sharkmen for shits and giggles.

This sums them up perfectly, “they fucking hate you” that’s it. They will sell weapons to both sides of your war, they will plunder your devastated world and feed your dumb ass to their sharks. Bonus points if those weapons they sell you have hidden codes/programs spy on you and won’t fire on Quintesson targets.

Remember that Judge from S3 who was sentenced to execution and had the gall to complement the ones sentencing him to execution?

Energon did give us that horrific H.R Geiger-esque design for the Alpha Quintesson and they were in Cyberverse. Though their depiction in Cyberverse is very unique, not bad mind you but just unique.

Damn, hadn't gotten around to watching Cyberverse yet.
It’s easily the best animated series we’ve had in awhile, designs and quirks take getting used to but it makes the best of what it is. Even if one of the writers is a gross dyke who forced that cringe lesbian scene into Kingdom.

I saw a few stores online have galvatron listed as "in stock soon" now instead of just "out of stock/no longer available". Not preorder, but some weird shit where I guess it's in stock but not fully processed? Somewhat tempted, but it's also $55 online instead of the $50 it is in stores. By the time i make my decision it's probably gonna be out of stock again.

EDIT: The fucking purple vine/rope shit around galvatron in that clip is the same color as kingdom galvatron more or less. That's kinda funny.

They've cropped back up a few times but for whatever reason, whenever they do they seem to get kneecapped. A great example of this is AOE, which was pretty clearly building up to them, but for some reason the people who are involved with these movies (who are legitimately retarded and have no fucking idea what they're doing) decided to scrap/rejig/consolidate them into "Quintessa" in TLK, a villain who somehow managed to be even less memorable than the Fallen in ROTF.

Which is a shame because the concept art they had of the Quintessons for TLK looked almost perfect,

Dude they wanted the movie to do well in China, they didn't want a character that reminded the Chinese of their own government.

Actually the Quints may have reminded them of something else, in Animated their empire was called the Quintesson Pan Galactic Co-Prosperity Sphere.

Which is pretty based tbh.

Well, that's funny because TLK ended up tanking in China anyway. I specifically remember reading that Chinese audiences saw through all the blatant China pandering in both AOE/TLK and got fed up with it.

Often I'll see people act as if the Quints and the Creators from AoE are basically one and the same, but the fact the Creators even were called Creators in the first place is proof they are NOT the Quints, since if they were, then just call them the fucking Quintessons already. It was JJ Abrams grade 'mystery box' nonsense and they were trying to buy time, which backfired when the whole plotline was dropped in TLK.

Plus, Lorenzo further proved he doesn't know what the hell the franchise is on a basic level because a week after TLK released, in an effort to shore up the rapidly falling box office, he straight up claimed in a press release that Quintessa was, in fact, HUMAN, or at least originally, and this is according to 'lore' which of course doesn't actually exist.

I definitely recall hearing reports of riotous laughter about the clearly American characters instantly knowing to look up a very popular Chinese used car website, something they damn well shouldn't have just casually known.

My gigawatt finally fucking arrived, thought I'd never see the damn thing with how many times shipping was delayed. No photos cause I'm too lazy to open the figure right now but I'm hoping I don't get one of the copies with the weird "window paint that evaporates when you touch it" i've heard about.

EDIT: Checked pulse and Galvatron's in stock. As in IN STOCK apperently not any of the weird "in stock soon" shit that I saw elsewhere that quickly changed to "sold out". I got one ordered but I really gotta focus on getting some more spending money in general right now. They limited it to 1 per customer this time, smooth move given the fact people are charging insano prices for this fucking thing online right now.

An anon in the /tfg/ posited the idea of Quintessa and Quintus as twin primes, basically they share the same power source. The story he wrotefagged goes that Quintus creates beautiful life forms and is given the honor of “seeding” the universe with life. Quintessa however only creates monsters, her creations are cruel misshapen abominations, a reflection of their creator. In the Prime War she would side with Megatronus and Liege, forming the Chaos Trinity and murdering Quintus to take his half of their branched spark.

In the conflict Quintessa would be slain by Prima and her legacy would live on in her creations, the Quintessons.

To me it never made sense that Quintus, one of the “nice guy” Primes would create the most hateful and cruel creatures in the galaxy and I think this anon thought the same.

My restock galvatron arrived from hasbro pulse today. Shit crossed state lines quicker than any priority mail package despite hasbro being a cheapskate and only having different variations of standard shipping by different postal companies as an option. Not really complaining. Somehow though, despite this being a restock, the galvatron I got was one of the defective ones. Unlike what I've seen other people do online, I'm not going to return it. I don't feel like trying to rip apart the figure to fix the shoulders either so that's a bit of a double whammy. I don't know what it is but something looks actually ok about the figure in-person with the weird shoulders. Flipping them makes them look fine but at the cost of also having the pin but the thing is I also notice there's a weird unnatural look to the proportions when it's flipped vs when it's correctly assembled. Maybe it's some subtle sculpting causing that who knows. I'll post pics when I feel like it. Better to have a slightly weird looking missassembly of a figure than shell out 150 dollars to a scalper and STILL not know if the shoulders are right or not till it arrives.

Finally, colored pics of Victory Saber.

He looks basically perfect aside from the Brainmaster which is missing some paint apps. And the stand looks better than I expected.

Did you see the secret?

Don’t feel too bad, Galvatron is getting reissued for Legacy and money is on him getting cleaned up and rereleased in proper colours in Studio Series.

I've still got selects galvatron on preorder, he'll probably have the right shoulders given I've seen none of the early batch copies people have of it have the defective ones. I do really hope they get the most out of this mold like they've been doing with seige/earthrise megatron.
A feature I've noticed on the figure that no reviews or promo pics have shown on the figure is the fact you can tilt the shoulder pauldrons to look like the g1 toy's weird little cube shoulderpads. I'm pretty sure this is an intentional feature, but I could be wrong.

All the in-hands for Selects Galvy have corrected shoulders and his production run was after the Kingdom release’s problem was discovered.

Got Kingdom Grimlock and Mirage in today, it’s clear that poor Grimlock was sacrificed for the sake of Mirage. Gonna fix him up.

Grey drybrush, spots, chest eyes, nails and oily gloss-based wash to bring out detail. Easy fix.

I’m sculpting some tufts into the shoulders right now and looking into raptor arm upgrades.
