Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

orange is a bit too light/desaturated on top of the head clearly trying to do something different than a normal armada megatron. I really wish there was like an actually widely available actually accurate armada megatron with modern engineering but considering we haven't gotten that yet in the now almost if not 20 years since armada came out yeah this is probably the closest we're ever going to get and it's something that's not only inaccurate but out of my price range. Looks really cool though still but once agan I wish the orange highlights were more of the normal "deep orange-ish red" armada megatron is known for. Did a really shitty recolor job in gimp and it looks fucking incredible.

Cyclonus is yellowing btw, be careful.
I looked up what exactly you meant by that and was met with nightmare imagery like piss yellow-ified netflix soundwave that looks like it was pulled out of a 30 year old storage unit but is a high end figure that came out only a year or so ago. I'm guessing the shit with the "schizo threads" was fucking real and is coming for figures like gold plastic syndrome was just a few years ago. Maybe it's some sort of fungus or the plastic leeching grease off human hands? I brought up that weird thing going on with my kingdom galvatron's purple plastics getting weirdly glossy the more I touch them and shit. none of the supposed "affected figures" have done that shit for me yet knock on wood but like jesus fuck there's no reason this should be like this.
What's insanity to me are the people going like like "oh it's just plastic degradation it's natural" and yeah I'd believe that if it werent for the fact these are figures that literally just came out either this year or last year, figures fresh out of the factories, figures unexposed to the elements of nature or the void of deep space 24/7, figures of which many toys around 20 or 30 years old only have mild yellowing. Hell, even the SNES, a thing shown as an example of how it's "normal" only started doing that after a few years of being off the market. Something really fucking weird is going on and I refuse to believe it's "natural" when the fucking cheapo-ass flintstones ledge walker toys from like the fucking the 60s my friend bought me 2 years back off a dude for like 7 dollars as a funny christmas present aren't yellowed at all and just have gross fucked up paint yeah something's fucking rotten.

It’s recycled plastic, my guess is their mixtures were off. Little known fact, recycling plastic is very delicate, fuck up your mix and you get……. problems down the line. As we’re seeing with Netflix Megatron, Soundwave and poor Cyclonus.

This is fucking unacceptable, we pay the premium and they give us second rate plastic?! It’s amazing how badly a brand can go down in quality after a high point like Siege was.

I feel bad for those who don’t know how to paint.

Haven't had any issues with the ones I have. Just seems to be either people placing them in terrible places (direct light and humidity are terrible for plastic), or it's just the batch. People should have kept their boxes so we know more information.

Also, one person decided to have their Cyclonus next to a desk lamp so the plastic is highly susceptible to either heat or intense light not just UV light.

So far I've seen two discoloured Transformers which have no explanation for it's discolouring and one Cyclonus that was left under a desk lamp. Other people have claimed it's happening to them but no photo evidence. Seems to be a rare thing so probably a batch problem. It happens.

I've seen images of netflix soundwave where the yellowing seems to start on the inside of the flaps that don't get much light which makes me wonder if there's some sort of fungus involved.

This also reminds me out of fucking nowhere I realized the bionicle reboot sets I got a few years ago are fucking cracking apart inexplicably. Like the joints arent even like deadly level tight and theres no stress marks the things are just developing weird fucking cracks that run up the entirety of the part and I know it's gonna explode soon. I looked up any info on this and there's fucking nothing I feel like the dude that made the schizoposts about the yellowing kingdom transformers. literally all I can find is praise baout how sturdy the CCBS bionicle parts are compared to the old ones from like the few years ago when the things hit market or post-cearly cancellation. I made a custom small g2 makuta out of custom order parts direct from fucking LEGO and though I thought that was fine compared to my others no no he's got a fucking massive crack going through his head down the middle up to the brainstalk. This reminds me of the shit that happened with the US release of beast wars transmetal megatron with his brittle ass plastic but at least with that one as long as you didn't use the ratcheted torso you'd be safe. These things are fuckingself destructing GPS style without the flaking. If these fucking transformers start doing that soon too I'm gonna lose my fucking shit. Everythings expensive and lower quality these days it seems, even the shit thats engineered well is ruined by some fucking cost cutting measure. You'd think the $500 ones would be safer with this logic but no I've seen enough horror stories about masterpiece beast megatron, kingdom unicron, and cartoon optimus to know that it's actually ok that those were out of my price range but it still sucks.

All I can say is I’ve literally never heard of CCBS regularly breaking to the massive degree that you’re describing. I’ve had a couple joints get cracked (mostly friction extenders), they’re certainly not invincible, but they’re hardly a regular occurrence - nowhere like later G1 Bionicle where 50% of your joints are guaranteed to break with regular use (obviously unacceptable for a toy line whose entire purpose is to take them apart and build your own shit, repeatedly).

Where do you store your toys?

in my house. It only started happening to like one of the parts I bought in a used lot on a custom g2 takanuva moc i put it on at first but since then I've noticed the fucking shit on my other CCBS parts. As I said my old bionicles are fucking fine it's just the new CCBS ones this is happening to. The only parts not cracking yet oddly are the extender joint ones. Nothing has fully "broken" yet save for the heads that are holding on by what I can only describe as hopes and dreams.

Bionicle's had an issue with them being released at the same time Lego was trying to find a new type of plastic to use. Now (since 2020) they made it so that they have no single use plastic in their boxes which should make it so that all plastics in the box come from one source. However, bioplastics and biodegradable plastics break down with time so you'll want to be even more careful where you put your Legos/ Toys. When Bionicle's came out, Lego was almost bankrupt (huge loss in 2004, buy they were losing money for years). That's why you see huge issues in sets between 2000-10. Technic was seen to have issues too. Most of the sets coming from 2008. After that Lego started seeing a profit again and made some changes in their bricks. Now you don't see cracking pieces.

I should mention, one reason why you'll see yellowing on plastics so early is because the factory didn't add the stabilizing chemicals to the plastic. Without it, plastics will yellow quickly under UV light.

That's not to bad. We pay extra on top of the USD to CAD conversion. For instance, there's a $10 increase on Cyclonus here on top of conversion. It's like that with most consumer products..

Having shipping issues, truckers who want to cry about mandates instead of work, and having stock rot in docks will cause prices to increases.

Looks like there's gonna be another price increase. Great.

Deluxes are now the price of voyagers, with voyagers only being a few dollars more. Leaders are now universally the price some online stores charged for leaders, titans are now the price "mild scalpers" charge for them. If the shit keeps rising with the quality control and plastic dropping it's gonna hurt.

Finally have a gallery of Bulkhead. Could be better but I don't hate him.

Transformers Legacy Voyager Bulkhead In-Hand Images

Looks better properly transformed. I don't like the green as it's a little too bright but I can repaint that. I like the head sculpt. Looks like someone who trains the Autobots.

That being said. Rather liking Bumblebee Brawn. Easy transformation rolls nicely.

While they're MP scale, I rather like these with TFC figures as the style is similar but they're too large. Should look good with GCreation's Dinobots though. Really like the Wolf feet the combiner has. I want another set just to paint one as Carnivac and another one as Fang Wolf or Snarl. Crab hands are still rather meh, should have been spiders or scorpions and the Gorilla waist doesn't suit the team.

By the way, Motormaster may have been leaked. Hard to get photos but here's one for the combiner part. Seems small for the official version. However TFormers did have to remove the page
Edit, got some more. Thanks to TF Basement for these

Motormaster looks perfect though. Obviously they're taking ideas for the engineering from X-Transbots and I think DX9.

considering he's a commander class it'd make sense for him to be that height if the trailer turns into menasor. I'm just hoping he scales good with the combiner wars bruticus I got (the only complete combiner wars team I got thanks to a good sale back a few years ago on hasbro's website)

EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLE POST: WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK MY PREORDER FOR REFORMATTING GALVATRON JUST CHARGED AND IT SAYS IT'S GOING TO SHIP 3 MONTHS BEFOREHAND. This is another CODE RED situation in the sense I gotta now work around this as it throws my spending money plans off with the other preorder delay shuffles and shit. More than likely got enough but it's skeeving me out. Weirdly it still says "pending" despite the notification that it's going to come earlier than expected. This is like the time with the other online exclusive where it randomly deleted then re-added my order for ravage depending on how I entered the page.
ironically this happened after I was considering maybe getting the reformatting megatron RED figure lmao.

That Motormaster is a 3rd party fig. Magic Square I believe.
Yeah I noticed that after I took further look of it. Even the trailer is Magic Square. I'll be waiting to see what TFW2005 has for information instead. Other sites just can't be trusted with news and will start boycotting them.
So unpainted eyes and very soft sculpt on the face. looks like an upscale to me.

By the way, my Medicus (First Aid) came in. While it lacks paint, that's okay since they did a good job with colour matching the plastic. Only thing I haven't liked is the feet. The underside just looks weird to me. It's like he's standing up on the side panels instead of the flats of his feet. Haven't had any issues with mine tabbing in anywhere. I'd also want more positions for the hand to go into. Other than that it's almost perfect.

Edit:
By hand I meant how the combiner hand can be positioned.

That being said. Other issue I have is the inner thigh. Needs a little more red but a nitpick.

I like the display cabinet on the left. These are similar to the one my games room is going to have for miniatures. I usually see the one on the left in white though.
