Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

Sentai and Kamen Rider do basically the same fuckin' thing for Japanese kids, but they don't talk down to their audience. Children aren't as stupid as most people think they are. There's some really, REALLY dark shit in Kamen Rider, and no one's had any "THINK OF THE CHILDREN" autistic screeching over it.

Also, Prime could get pretty dark with shit too, and you're telling me that it's just for kids? Are you fucking high?
Multiple deaths, zombies, transformers being used as corpse puppets, slavery basically with the Predicons. The shit going on with Megatron. The shit that went on in the book with the Primes. Humans having abandonment issues. Transformers with PTSD. Yes, I'm sure children under the age of 10 understood any of that today. It's not the 80's where kids could watch shit like Robocop, Aliens, and the Nightmare on Elm Street series because fuck ratings.

Most kids show up for shit like Transformers and GI Joe because they want to just see action figures kicking the crap out of each other. The older kids (and even the adults who are surprised a lot of the time) stick around because of the deeper overall story elements.

Children nowadays have the attention span of gnats now, and that's generally why everything sucks.

That's mostly due to the fact that most parents really don't want to have any part of their children's lives. They figure the State/ School system can do that and we've seen what happens when you do that. I make sure I know what my kids read and watch so they don't end up the way kids are today, yet there are idiots out there that think that's wrong.

Back in the day we had an hour or two of things to watch and then we got bored and either played with our toys or went outside, sometimes we even read books/magazines/comics (back when the Comics Code was still a thing and stopped all this degenerate bullshit). Now kids have more video games to play or shit to watch online with zero parental guidance.

They literally stopped doing that in the 80's so that they could keep all of their IP's separate. This is due to issues they had back in the day with Godzilla and with Hasbro stuff. GI Joe was often seen as a Transformers adjacent comic because it was owned by Hasbro. It's why G2 Megatron first appeared in GI Joe. UK didn't care though. That's why they had Doctor Who show up. Marvel UK was basically a separate imprint from American Marvel Comics. that at first just reprinted American stuff but later were allowed to print off original titles.
more like "after the 80s". Transformers started mid-80s and the crossover shit happened both before and after Galvatron got introduced which was a few years in.

No, but again I’m not the one who autistically raged on a Transformers forum derailing multiple threads with other autists. I’m also not gonna get angry about an IP pushing out corporate slop when its reason for existing was to sell plastic crap. I don’t care if the series has ever had “dark” or “edgy” adaptations. It’s still corpo shit at the end of the day.

This is coming from someone who thought the toys were cool when I was younger, but like an adult I grew out of it and moved on. That should be normalized except our culture now thrives on marketing to, or enraging, manchildren who can’t let stuff from their childhood go. That’s why we get soulless, generic films in the first place. Originality is dead, and corpos killed it.
So you're "not autistically raging" here?

lol

I don't know what kids you knew that liked gi joeand transformers but the plot/worldbuilding shit is what gripped my and a bunch of my friends collective asses as a kid.
For Gi Joe shit specifically I was in that weird sweet spot where they started getting experimental and gimmick filled while also referencing old shit. I got more involved in the actual figure design when the "adult collector 25th line" showed up when I was in my teens and it was like "HOLY SHIT WHAT A FUCKING AESTHETIC SHIT LOOKS ALMOST LIKE THE OLD PROMO ART IN 3D!" Sure some of the figures had either janky looks or articulation compared to others in the same line but that stuff had a really big impact on action figure stuff as a whole. Once the shitty movie came out they started putting full force effort into the line making modernized updates on characters and vehicles that would have been super fucking cool to actually see in literally anything other than solely toy form. Hasbro may have finally killed the line dead for half assed original O ring reissues at a premium price, but there's loads of small independent companies making that style of figure now and the artists behind those make some really neat stuff. Only issue is a lot of it is like one time only run and scalpers fucking yoink that shit instantly most of the time I find out some artist has made a new one I find interesting. 3d printed or custom casted hobbyist stuff is some of the best shit, though it requires manual painting and assembly/finding figures that work with the parts.

It's literally as simple as "don't leave your 2-11 year old unattended with an ipad connected to discord/tiktok/youtube kids.

I was one of those weird kids that liked both GI Joe AND Transformers. I'm honestly lowkey mad at myself for not taking better care of my shit, 'cause I had a LOT of G1 and Joe figures. If I had a time machine, bros..
I don't know why, but I never liked GI joe figures but I did like the vehicles and playsets. The figures couldn't last in the humidity here. Not to mention since my father and grandfather noticed I liked Transformers more that's what they usually got me for Christmas. That and books, but that was just them hoping I'd get better at speaking English though when I lived with my mother I wasn't allowed to do anything. Later on when I turned 12 and left her I had people gifting me even more books and comics (also got to play AD&D more). Other than Transformers stuff the the 80's I was gifted with several boxes of DC stuff so I wasn't much of a Marvel fan other than Captain America, Crossbones is a great villain people can fuck right off if they think otherwise, and Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, Guy Gardner, Deadman, and Plastic Man are the greatest heroes of all time. If you think otherwise you're obviously gay for Superman and Batman. Honourable mentions to Spider-Man. The moment he died in the 90's so we could have all those terrible clone stories and later One More Day was the day I stopped giving a shit about Marvel Comics. They can all fuck off.

In The Transformers: Till All Are One #12 Windblade speculates that Starscream changes bodies so often because he's subconsciously rejecting them. And I'm sure you know what they did to Arcee.
Who were the writers over at idw that wrote this shit like this and none of the readers at the time had the balls to call it out. so glad that image/skybound has the liscence. I'm genuinely confused that TF fan base was infiltrated by troons and fags.
people are also trying to get The Alfonso Nation a youtuber cancelled because he called some tf fetish artwork weird. video included

actually the trash-o-bots dancing to Dare To Be Stupid was a bold political statement about existing in a constantly changing society

IDW has a lot of fags and trannies working for them and liking the garbage they put out so it was just a matter of time before of them infected the fandom. 90's and 2000's you really just had more women getting into it and more retards.

Because it IS fucking weired and I'm shocked people have the gall to stick their real names/faces next to that shit that should stay in the dark underbelly of the internet or in a box under your bed. Fuck troons.

I found MPM Bonecrusher at Target a few months ago and he's as fantastic as I'd hoped, Bumblebee Sunstreaker is a fun figure who I just picked up this weekend on impulse, and now that we have pictures I'm looking forward to MPM Brawl's release.

Other than that, nothing has tempted me this year: there really is no excuse for mainline MPs to be so awful (for the price) when the MPMs can deliver on accuracy and poseability and (hopefully 2 for 2, but at least I know Bonecrusher seems solid) durability, all while coming in at least $40 cheaper than mainline MPs of comparable scale.

gentlemen, energon prime has fallen.
one of the ratchets in his leg broke. i tried to fix it but the gear just gets to much stress from all sides.

This has been an issue in the past. There's threads on TFW2005 on it and a few on Reddit. It's a common enough problem with it. There maybe a gear replacement that can be printed off for it too. If you don't have a 3d printer, check your local library. They tend to be cheap to use there.

New Cybertron Hot Shot looks good. Though it's mold obviously not meant just for that character but still looks good in it. I could see them use it for a new Getaway/ Breakaway figure. He makes for perfect Custom fodder and just needs new heads and a paint job. Doesn't look like it needs fillers or anything.

There's a few people on TFW2005 complaining about the eyes being too small but they don't understand that larger eyes in animation just makes it easier to express emotion. Japanese learned that from Bambi.

Today, I solved a mystery that has been Perplexing me for over thirty years. It feels like I finally fully unlocked the past...now if I could just remember what was on that weird VHS tape...

Anyway.

As a small child, around 3 or 4, I received a Christmas gift of this really cool white and blue transforming truck and trailer. I remember thinking it was the coolest, most incredible toy I had ever seen. It was the first time I remember being awed by the plastic stuff the japs were giving us, a trend that would continue deeply into my childhood (Transformers/Diaclone, Power Rangers, Brave series etc.).

Now, every time I tried to remember this toy, I couldn't place what it was. All I knew is it wasn't a Transformer, and it was a blue and white space ship/truck that had folding down wings and folding up wheels. I could remember nothing else. In my memory I could only recall seeing bits and pieces of it.

Well...tonight, I finally found out what it was. It WAS a Transformers toy after all.

I had never put the stickers on it, so it just sat within my mind as "blue and white space truck" memory blob, and OF COURSE every time I tried to google search for this thing I just got Ultra Magnus, which didn't fit the memory. In fact I was this close to replacing this thing WITH Ultra Magnus in my memory because I almost resigned myself to believing I misremembered him.

You have no idea how relieving this was.

that thing is the shit
huge ass truck? check.
two aircrafts? check.
combined aircraft? check.
base mode? ehhhh...

i also was balls deep into micromasters, so the combining ones where my thing. only to bad the combining tabs on them where to weak for a ten year old to handle.

I had Skyhopper and Skystalker as a child. Though I always forget their names despite being some of my favorites. I don't think I ever seen Overflow and Full-Barrel here. Most of the Micromachine sets we got were Decepticons. I find the Autobots Battlefield Headquarters looked nicer than the Decepticons Anti Air thing and had more play value. After all, Micromasters were cheap back than and some made great army builders so it was easy to build up a decent collection.

Although I never owned any, and they were never in my part of the country, one toy line I wanted as a kid were the Air Raiders. Decent looking line for the time and small enough to have nice large battles without going for some green army men. I always forget what that toyline is called but not how it looks.

Yeah also learned that Micromasters were a more popular thing in the UK. I have been in one state in the US my whole life so I very rarely saw any of those. I think we even missed a whole G2 set or something? When I briefly got into collecting robots a few years ago I noticed some Europe exclusive neon-colored cars that I LOVED and wished to have gotten over here as a kid. Can't recall their names, but there were several of them that one of the Third Party companies did a really nice MP scale reboot on. A truck like Optimus Prime with two giant turbos on top. That's what the theme of the Europe line was, I think. Turbines. It was beautiful

Larger eyes also tend to work well on action figure heads , not like gross level but "slight stylization" type.

That's technically late g1 if I remember this right, at least the original release that's a different character called "thunderclash" and suffers from the plastic rot disease due to cheap gold plastic. was. As a result the repaint of him as optimus that came out later is like stupid scalped from what I've seen now, but people are also scalping the one with the rot. It's still genuinely weird to me there's never been an official modernized remake of that design when they've done like pretty much every other Optimus variant at this point, sometimes multiple times.

In terms of the vehicles thing I'd occasionally see hobby shops or secondhand places carrying the Micro master/action master vehicles, kinda wanted the megatron tank one but never got one because I noticed none of them ever had his arm gun, only to find out years later when they're scalped online from "value speculator" hustlers that the gun wasn't released despite there being a spot for it on the figure. Glad I got that recent Buluke/Bloks/blockees/whatever the fuck it's called now stylized megatron model kit off a guy used because it basically is the same thing as the figure I wanted but it's stylized differently and has better articulation. Kinda want to try and make a way to give t the head of the old one at some point but that'd require me to get supplies and use them and life never lines up for me lately.

I looked it up again and yeah you're right. Thunderclash and the Turbomasters. Those cars are right up my alley! The FansHobby MP Thunderclash looks really cool.
