Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

G2 wasn't that bad. Thought G2 Megatron was like the best one we got in G2 (I was also partial to Tonka yellow Constructicons), at least in the West. UK's G1.5 was a lot better though that wave is plagued with GPS.

G2 is awesome. well, the toys are anyway, I've never really seen much of the fiction but I heard the comics were good.
the biggest issue with it was how poorly it was marketed and the fact the first year was almost entirely garish repaints of g1 molds did not help.
but on the flip side you have stuff like the Cyberjets, Laser Cycles, Laser Optimus Prime, the Laser Rods, all of which pushed the envelope of what you could do articulation wise on a Transforming robot, they essentially pioneered balljoints which were relegated to weird transformation joints in G1 and Gobots.
Road Rocket's one of my faves

Good figure, terrible transformation. I have a few and painted a couple as other seekers.
Been waiting on someone to do yet another Shockwave so I can paint them s the Shockwave clones.
Got it today, transformed it into jet mode, and that’s exactly how it’s going to stay until it goes out of stock everywhere and I can offload it for a minor profit.

To its credit, the jet mode is surprisingly sturdy for how fucking flimsy the transformation feels. But man, I buy Transformers to transform them, if my first thought after transforming it is “I’m never doing that shit again“ then IMO it has failed me. If anything it just gives me a renewed appreciation for Newage… somehow they were able to make a legends-scale Seeker with a simple yet effective transformation that actually slims down more than any of the MP-scale Seekers in jet mode (though I suspect it’s because they decided to ditch “screen accuracy“ by not having his chest things visible on the bottom… something I could care less about).

If it's an MP I'll usually transform it once and that's it. There's few MP's I'll transform several times (Giga Power ones being some of the those few and most Fanshobby). I find myself transforming legends scale 3p figures more often followed by Generations.

Yeah maybe MP scale just isn’t for me. The only other MP I own is a KO MP-13 Soundwave and he’s reasonably fun to flip back and forth… then again Soundwave is naturally predisposed to a relatively simple transformation. I think CHUG scale stuff is the most fun to play around with, but mainline figures are obviously made to be kid’s toys so they have to make way more concessions to satisfy the lower budget.

Is Target Exclusive Red Cog out yet? Been trying to keep up with the Legacy Exclusives, but there's been so much Legacy stuff released across multiple sublines like Buzzworthy and Studio Series

Acoustic Wave is really fun to transform and has a lot neater alt mode too than Soundwave. I'm looking forward to their Blaster. The Rumble and Frenzy they did is a bit poor but at least it's made out of diecast. I perfect larger Occulus Max tapes though. MP scale is for collectors who like to take photos and/ or do stop motion videos.

Not yet, should be out soon.
There's no Target's here so I have pay scalping prices and shipping on the damn thing.

Greyscale for the Dr.Wu/ Mechanic Toys MS-36 Sand Leopard prototype looks better. At least the Dune Buggy mode looks like something now

May need to paint this myself just to make sure it looks good. The Colour renders made this look worse than it is. It's a shame they couldn't put the arms into the body.

There's lots of MP figures with great transformations, mostly Takara but Maketoys has made some fun ones as well.
I think the problem with 3P MP is they never take into account clearance and the end user enjoyment, they make transformations as just something you have to do between modes and never focus on it to make sure it's actually a fun process. and the complexity isnt the issue either, toys like MP Sunstreaker are a perfect example, hes insanely complex and intricate for his size but he also has a flow to his transformation and you can flip him back and forth without wanting to kill yourself.

I wish I could get some more Vintage Diaclones, especially the ones that have unique color schemes compared to their TF versions or god forbid some of the ones that never made it to Transformers, but I don't think I'm getting any of those without winning the lottery.
anyway here's Diaclone Seizan.

You mean reopened?
I wonder if this will fail before it's even started like the Power Rangers/Transformers thing they were going to do before Hasbro got the license for Power Rangers. Four days to find out I guess. Doesn't sound like it's important to collectors though and more corporate.

Finally got some repro pieces for these guys

probably my favorite gimmick in all of G1, its so fucking unnecessarily complicated but its just so satisfying and cool to do

I'm partial to the reboot stuff myself. Like the Battle Convoy V-Shadow and whatever Armor Wrap Combination Powered Convoy is supposed to be. There's a few releases I'm waiting on from them. For some of them I can't say like I'm getting my money's worth though.

oh god no. BB was $350. the giant crawler that turns into a playset that comes out in july is gonna be the same price and itll be another hundo for the two maneuver boys. diaclone is an expensive habbit

At least they're "small" for the most part so they make great desk toys to go along well with legends class Transformers.

speaking of diaclone fitting up with titans return, id like to throw my tinfoil hat into the ring and say the bandai takara team up will result in more 1/60 scale stuff. maybe even start an eastern competition with 1/56 western wargaming
