Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

It just said what I said. "Entire Earthspark line canceled, not just Prowl".
But maybe it was just Prowl after all? Nobody knows. We'll see, I guess.
The news I've been seeing says it's just Prowl, which really sucks because Cyberverse Prowl is a great mould that deserves to be given a second chance rather than the Hot Rod mould. Hopefully it will get released in the mainline for TF1 or the next show.

It must suck being in Europe or the UK as a fan of anything and not getting any reveals at your conventions. Least the London one showed off the packaging for the Party Wallop. So not worth keeping it sealed. Ugly ass packaging. You'd think they could do something similar to a Playmates box.

The entire Earthspark line is being canceled in Japan!
This is unprecedented! That must mean that they're done with the cartoon as well.

I'm sure the pronoun crap was done away with in the dub. Japanese doesn't really have many third-person pronouns anyways. But the show is still stuck with the all black cast. That's going to alienate Japanese kids.
The amount of kek I'm feeling seeing this is indescribable :story:

Wouldn't be bad to repaint it as a few drones or something. Alpha Trion looks terrible, Optimus looks better as a Studio series figure so I think most of the money for designs went to Bumblebee and him.
Earthspark is finally bringing out some figures that look good.

New Mainframe in the Autobot 3-pack has a better colour scheme than the one with the Ark.

The game that's loosely based on armada has some of the best fucking tracks I've heard in a game.

Also every time I'm thinking about or reminded about that Tidal Wave that's going to arrive at some point this year my brain just jumps to the Game's boss cutscene intro of him.
People have theorized the reason the head is based on an off model anime shot of his head is so they can make a "gamer edition" down the line with his hasbro release toy/video game appearance colors. Not sure if I'll have the funds for that one too but I still have my original from back in the day and that figure's pretty much perfect save for the lack of knees.
EDIT: I think I already talked about the og figure being perfect save for lack of knees and the recolor theory. whoops.
Tidal Wave and Cyclonus had my favourite boss fight themes in the game. Tidal Wave was practically average Cybertronian size in the actual TV show, and in Energon (I think), which was a bit underwhelming. Stupid kid me thought they were two separate people, 'cos of the size difference, and the fact that he spoke in the Armada animated series.

I'll always look fondly back on some of the voice acting, too, particularly from Garry Chalk (Optimus; also in Armada and Energon. Also Optimus Primal in Beast Wars), David Kaye (Megatron. I think he also voiced Red Alert in the Armada series. He also, of course, voiced Megatron in Beast Wars, Armada, and Energon. He was also Nathan Hale in Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2), and Daran Norris (Venom in Spider-Man (PS1, N64, and PC), and Cosmo in Fairly Oddparents).

Also, also, also, the most fun I had with the game, feature-wise, was getting the Slipstream Minicon, which gave you a wingpack (for lack of better words/terminology/I slightly made it up in place of jetpack).

If you look at clips of armada it's actually funny because he starts out as the size he was in the game but then just inexplicably gets smaller as the series goes on.
And then he gets actually bigger again in energon but the animation quality dips to comical levels due to the artstyle change where they started using cel shaded 3d models to save budget.

Had to edit this post a good few times because it kept adding extra loops or spoilers after I sent it somehow

EDIT AGAIN TO AVOID DOUBLE POST:
One Sentinel Prime looks very cool! :)
Never thought I'd see the day where Sentinel prime is a Starscream repaint, but here we are. I like how the colors are kinda based off his "Animated" appearance though.

Oh, yeah, now you mention it, I'm recalling the height inconsistencies, 'cos he was supposed to be the equivalent of Astrotrain from the original series.

Astrotrain from the original series.
It's funny because astrotrain was never large, it was his altmode that was inexplicably large enough to carry a ton of decepticons despite being nearly consistently shown to be around the size of a moderately large human passenger vehicle on the outside, which was also kind of inconsistently sized due tot he nature of being both an old timey steam train and a grey and purple NASA shuttle.

I also realized they didn't even paint the grey bits ont he earmufs of the new tidal wave, mightve noticed before and forgot but it's bugging me now because even though it's based on one of the many off model anime shots that give him a massive chin and tiny earmuffs the little earmuff things are still grey in those screenshots. Kinda reminds meof how legacy blitzwing lacks the sculpted in purple side bits on his head.

I only remember bits and bats of Armada, and I only saw Astrotrain in the 1986 movie, but only because I have it on DVD (it was my stepdad's copy that he gave me). I remember Energon more: Megatron becoming Galvatron (which may have happened in Armada, too), Optimus Powerlinking with Wing Saber; who I still get mixed up with Jetfire, Ironhide being a younger, surfer-esque/Valley Boy sounding dude, and Inferno becoming a Decepticon, and then dying because he sacrificed himself, or something related.

I remember that I also used to have the Energon Hot Shot action figure, too.

It's funny because usually with people it's the opposite in termsof remembering stuff.
Also yeah the Galvatron thing happened in every "unicron trilogy" show, though only in the english (and some other reigons I think?) versions. In the JP one he's megatron throughout armada despite the color change and he's called Galvatron in Energon for the entire time after he gets revived while inside Unicron's corpse. They did a kinda clever thing with energon where the first form is based on the toy G1 galvatron and the powered up version is based on the show model/official colors of g1 galvatron. As a kid I used the Energon Galvatron I had as the stand in for the g1 Galvatron (and the Halberd from Kirby due to the altmode literally looking like the thing) .

Way back when, I had a relative who was doing the season 3 g1 Galvatron voice when playing with him . I'd never seen season 3 of g1 at that point so I just assumed he was lying about shit like he tended to do about pretty much everything else when he said "no that is galvatron's voice!" David Kaye and Leonard Nimoy were my reference for Galvatron voices till years later long after when I actually saw season 3 and then I finally understood. kinda a funny memory.

I wonder why Nimoy was only the voice of Galvatron in the movie, but not throughout the rest of the animated series. Because I caught a few later episodes where Galvatron had brain damage, and was going berserk, and it was Frank Welker doing the voice again, you know, like with Megatron.

The in-universe explanation for Galvatron's weird wacky voice in season 3 of g1 is because he got a power boost from this alien plasma stuff but the energy shit went into his head wounds and made him occasionally irrational and almost always more angry. Transformers Energon had a kind of similar substance with the "super energon" that turned megatron/galvatron Purple but minus the liquid into head injury aspect so he's not insane and just more powerful. Energon does make him "kind of crazy" by having him be possessed by Unicron's ghost though for a bit from what I remember.

EDIT:
I think I linked this g1 compilation somewhere earlier in the thread but it literally opens with the scene I'm looking for and I can't find uploads of the scene by itself anymore so it's here too. Technically in this compilation it's sprinkled throughout the vid instead of just being the full scene unedited.
People tend to mistake the stuff in the first clip as lava and I can get why but they constantly say it's some alien energy boosting plasma and nobody gets hurt from being in it.

IIRC Galvatron also eventually gets healed after the whole hate plague thing but the US writers forgot about it or the episodes were aired out of order I forget which it was. it's kinda cool though because He sounds a bit more like the Megatron voice with a slight twinge of the nutty galvatron voice in that scene.
EDIT: COPYRIGHT BLOCK APPERANTLY BREAKS TIMESTAMPS NOW? THANKS GOOGLE!
Skip to 20:18 in the video for the moment.

@The Lawgiver Oh yeah, this talk about Galvatron and Frank Welker reminds me of how much I like Bayformers Galvatron (who becomes Megatron again, thanks to Quintessa). I prefer Hugo Weaving Megatron, in terms of voice acting, however.

There's at least three different shades of yellow on SS86 Bumblebee. One of which is very orange. Guess he's going to need a full repaint. May as well get two and make one a Goldbug since the gold rub 'n buff stuff I use looks better than the gold plastic they started using that can look like a weird mustard at times. The wax metalics are often the way to go if you need that bright gold colour on larger pieces.

Finally some official pics from the Takara three pack. Release is in November
So much nicer than all that yellow he had before. Sticker detail in alt mode remains the same

i should have jumped on the chance of getting a commander sky lynx, but me thinking it would stay in stock for longer was a bad move.

We seem to be getting a good about of re-releases so he'll likely get one too.
