One of the new fronts in the culture war between right and left is the status of transgender people in society. A marginalized issue for years, the status of transgender people is now being discussed in prime-time talks shows and treated in major Hollywood movies.
Based on data from the PEW Research Center, this test will determine your attitude to transgender issues on the basis of the matters that currently divide the public.
Kudos to them for actually trying to understand the concerns of trans-skeptic people rather than strawmanning them as a bunch of reactionary far-right bigots.
"Trans-skeptics are people who are skeptical of many of the current initiatives launched by the transgender cause. Trans-skeptics are not necessarily against transgender people and do not necessarily deny that a person may be born with the wrong sex. However, trans-skeptics tend to be cautious about valorizing what they see as an unfortunate condition, fearing that it may encourage people who are not actually transgender to identify as transgender in an attempt to get sympathy and support from others. Trans-skeptics also tend to worry that too many of the initiatives currently associated with transgender advocacy are a threat to traditional lifestyle and morality and may be a Trojan Horse for a broader political agenda which they do not necessarily agree with."
All of this shouldn't be remotely controversial and lines up with what the people in question actually say, yet could you imagine any so-called "mainstream media" printing something like that these days?
There are some questions who are painted as a black and white issue.
I always ask though to the "bake muh cake" people - either a business refuses service all the time or not at all.
This is what I got. I'm actually pretty accepting of people being trans. When you're a grown adult and you want to chop your parts off and change them go ahead. But if you think everyone needs to treat you like a god then you're delusional.
I have sympathies but most of these people are insane.
That questionnaire might as well have been an AR-15 in an elementary school, because holy shit was it loaded. What it needed for a lot of those questions was some form of "I honestly don't give a shit about this question/am not qualified to answer this". Forcing a binary (heh) answer to those is bad form.
The prevalent data available says there is a single-digit percentage of not-straight people in the US (as best as they can figure for the moment), and not even half a percent of people who identify as trannies. It isn't that I think trannies don't exist, it's that I don't think they exist in the numbers that Tumblr (and most social media) is trying to imply. The loudest of their ranks never seem to take their "identity" beyond their profile bio/description; they aren't living it, they aren't making any effort to present it, it's all just "LOOK AT ME IM A TRANNY GIVE ME MONEY OH AND MY COMMISSIONS ARE OPEN".
How the fuck can anyone unironically get more than 50% tranny-sympathetic? Seriously, even with liberal view point, there are obviously bullshit questions like giving kids drugs and wasting tax money on tranny bullshit. I have only got 27% anyway.
So by saying that I don't think that trannies are poorer because of the inherent unfairness of capitalism, I'm automatically more trans-sceptic?
Anything trannies do, is for attention. Where is this option?
"Someone who isn't a pedophile will never be able to understand what it's like to live as a pedophilic person. Therefore the views of pedophilic people should count for more when discussing pedophilia issues"
This just lacks nuance. I'm not sure if it's a mental disorder per se, or a condition caused by other disorders like narcissism, autism, autogynephilia etc.
