Stardew Valley players have been targeted with doxxing and abuse for asking the game’s developer to add pronouns.

In October, fans began requesting that developer Eric Barone – aka ConcernedApe – add pronouns to the farm-life sim game, as a way to better represent non-binary players.

A petition was created by fan Atmos Fierce, which has garnered more than 8,600 signatures.

However, the call has resulted in abuse from anti-LGBTQ+ fans of the game, who have targeted streamers and members of the community by either purposefully misgendering them, sending abuse, or doxxing them.

Doxxing refers to the act of sharing private information such as a home address, phone number, or other identifiable details, publicly on the internet.

Transgender streamers appear to be the main target of the abuse, with some users telling them to “be careful” playing Stardew Valley while the controversy continues to rumble on.

Barone’s silence has been “deafening”, one person claimed.

“Transphobes are doxxing and harassing members of your Stardew Valley community simply because they are advocating for a pronoun update,” the user wrote. “It is extremely important for you to speak up for them.”

The lack of response has led some to suggest a boycott of the game until either a statement is made or pronouns are added to the game.

“I truly do not care if ConcernedApe speaks on pronouns in the game any more,” one user said. “I want [him] to condemn the transphobia and violence against the trans members of the community.”

An affiliate for the streaming site, Twitch, said they would not be playing the game any longer because of Barone’s lack of response.

“It does not feel right for me to continue streaming or playing Stardew Valley,” they wrote. “It truly breaks my heart to see the amount of people getting hurt.”

PinkNews has contacted Eric Barone for a comment.

one of which was somewhat arguing in FAVOR of the change.
Just in case I didn't argue in favor of troon pronouns, I hate troons and want them all to 41%. I was replying to a post that said there was absolutely nothing for troons to possibly want pandering-wise. I'm a language sperg and it's part of my job to notice stuff like genders in translation and internationalization grammar context, and there is.

Fun Fact: There has been a Stardew Valley Gender Retardation mod since 2016
There's a bunch more also catering to gender specials, and unlike mods that would take them out they're in no danger of ever being removed by staff. This is peak entitlement.
There's been a "diverse Stardew Valley" mod since forever in which everyone is a shitskin or troon or both. I know the page says 2023 but I swear it's ancient, I saw it way back on the Chucklefish forums. I also remember the forum went utterly rabid when someone posted a White Maru mod (she's a mulatta in the base game).

I've played the game, and if I recall, there are very few, if any, sequences in which pronouns are used at all for your character. It's usually just your name, or the dialogue is directed specifically to you. These people are such pathetic losers. If it bothers you that much, then don't play the farm sim game. Go back to Undertale or some shit

If you click on the link it will lead you to the article about the evil Kiwifarms doxxing

This is not a coincidence, we are actually being blamed for this shit

"Given all of this, Stardew Valley communities would like ConcernedApe to acknowledge what is happening. To acknowledge that there is a harassment campaign against those who want customizable pronouns in Stardew Valley, to defend the queer and trans fans of your game. Please just say something."

Fun fact for those of you who haven’t played Stardew or simply didn’t know, if you’re playing as a man and marry Alex while not having a high friendship level with George (his grandpa), George will have some dialogue about how a man marrying another man “just isn’t natural” (though he’ll change his mind somewhat if you become better friends with him)
Transphobic George mod when?

And how do you know this? 🤔 You homo.

I see someone didn't read the intro packet when they got True & Honest status.

I don't check my mailbox often, instructions received. Loud and clear.

Mainly focusing on this Zaytri fag. Surprisingly it looks like he hit the lottery to be special troon of the month with a heap of articles covering him as one of the first ones to bitch and moan about Palworld and AI art. Social media reach including but not limited to: FREE PALESTINE x2, bluesky (bingo freespace), tumblr, reddit, their own discord (paging doctor @notorietus), and honestly I'm going to stop listing them it's too much and too easy to find.

This is who gets articles of praise and ass-pattery from "journalists."

I know it's not about this but god these people are fucking lame. My character is a green skinned fucking alien, if gender and pronouns don't mean anything then why are you mad? You can make a boy and dress it like a girl and so on. Who fucking cares? Then they'll turn back around and ask "why are you obsessed with trannies"

My bad, edited for clarity. By how the troons portrayed it though, that's far more charitable than I'd expected when I looked back at the conversation people had.
