So Playstation rolled out Vue pretty recently and holy fucking shit, it's actually good.
For around $30 a month you get full DVR and on demand support as well as live TV in HD quality. To put that in to perspective, I was paying about $160 a month for the same thing last year and the DVR and picture quality were no where near this good. My wife can watch all the Chopped, American Horror Story and The Americans she wants while I get the NFL network and most football games, as well as anything I feel like watching that I can stomach. In fact, I can start watching any live show (or show int he last 24 hours) in progress from the start regardless of how I have them set up or not set to record.
Though as a weird aside, turns our Viacom (who's partly owned by Sony) won't let Vue carry their channels yet, but luckily that shit sucks anyhow because Comedy Central hasn't been funny in the last 10 years aside from South Park and Tosh, so it's no big loss. But Disney, Fox and most others are signed on and working really well.
So if you own a PS4, it's time to ditch cable, and probably Hulu as well, because this does the same shit and more at a much better price point
