The one thing i wanted to comment on with the final season of the wire were the homeless. its now 2009, all the patriotism from 2001 is gone, solders from the war return home, broken both physically and physiologically, feeling alienated from society asking what they were fighting for. the homeless in that season were abused by journals and the cops to push their own agenda and it ended with an innocent man being send to jail and everyone (even the criminals) getting away with it.

started watching the shield and man, just the first episode hits you hard with how edgy it is. the second episode had me laughing when the black family brought out a video camera when their son got arrested. truly a time capsule of a time before iphones.

also the black cop being called an "Uncle Tom".

halfway done with season 3 of The Shield. this has been a crazy ride and it shows no sign of stopping. pure early 00 edge kino.

i kinda miss the preview they had in the fist season. it was so over the top.

She Spies is a show that never gets enough love. Natasha Henstridge and two other hot chicks getting into fights while awful jokes and gags fly at the viewer every few seconds. It's basically Charlie's Angels but not insufferable.

Monk leans heavily on the "Oh my god he's acting so awkward can you believe it?" side of humor so was never my cup of tea, but if you aren't irritated by that, solid recommend. Great casting and performances. One of the "USA's Golden Area" shows.
It's from back when USA was doing that goofy "Characters Welcome" stuff with all the Sherlock knockoffs and quirky detectives on shows like Criminal Intent and Life.

Life was pretty cool: Damian Lewis as a Zen detective who did a stint in prison before getting released because he didn't do it but now he has to use his Zen philosophy to track down the real criminals he went to prison over. Problem is I hear they retooled it for season two and made it less Zen-ish.

I wonder if anyone here remembers The Brendan Leonard Show. The Brendan Leonard Show ran for a single season of 40 episodes on The Family Channel/ABC Family in 2003. The best way I can describe it is a zero-budget, G-rated Jackass knock-off. Someone gave a bunch of dorky midwestern teenagers a camera and let them make a low-rent comedy show. The humor seems tailored to sheltered church group kids whose moms wouldn't let them watch Jackass, just as tame and inoffensive as possible.

I'm surprised how many people on Reddit and YouTube claim to remember this show. Mostly they seem to remember it for the music. Every episode, they would highlight a different band whose songs would run in the background of the entire episode. Mostly pop-punk, ska, and indie rock, stuff like The Promise Ring, Jets to Brazil, and MU330. That was pretty cool if you were the kind of teenager who thought knowing more obscure bands meant you had better taste in music.

Just want to come in here and give a big shoutout to Life on Mars (UK) and to a slightly lesser extent its sequel Ashes to Ashes, now both rarely talked about anymore.
Gene Hunt is and forever will remain a top tier character.

First show I saw John Simm in before he popped up in Doctor Who.

finished The Shield. it was a wild ride from start to finish. the ending is depressing as fuck but, thats to be expected after all the shit the strike team did.

Vic got the worst ending, Even with his freedom and pension. everyone he loved either hates him, in prison or dead. and for what? that god damn Armenian money train.
