I personally think this guy bears watching, even though he may not be the type of crazy that somebody like Liz Lansing is (and even she has gotten to the point where she's not really funny anymore, and her estranged husband is a New Age hippy type who keeps enabling her but doesn't want to admit it) it may still be worth chronicling him.
It's common for schizos to suddenly unravel, they keep the steadily worsening racket in their heads a secret until the dam breaks and suddenly they're irretrievably batshit. Being "lost" is another thing with people who are mentally ill for ages and then their family finally gets them to take meds, they can look back on the depths of their crazy and say "holy shit, who WAS that fucktard?"
The whole PANDAS thing may be just a ruse cooked up by his family to get him to take his meds. Schizos generally refuse to take their meds, so I can imagine the family saying "sure, you're not crazy, you have Mufflegwuph Syndrome, and the meds treat it, now take them so the brain lining inflammation goes down!"
And yeah anybody who is a big landowner on California's Central Coast has more money than God, and it's always been that way-Hearst Castle, anybody? When people think of San Luis Obispo they think of Cal Poly, but outside of the university and SLO proper there are some truly jaw dropping estates. I think it would be a great place for a 20something who has gone off the skitzo deep end to hang out in, especially if the alternative is NYC.
