Crazy Mormon Stephanie Meyer was very very specific about what she wanted for her Twilight series in film. Director Catherine Hardwicke revealed that she wanted poc actors, for example a Japanese actress, but Meyer instead opted for a black guy to be the villain because racism. Said villain is described as "olive-skinned" (Katniss anyone?) in the books.

In summary, Mormon who wrote a hamfisted abstinence metaphor by saying your vampire boyfriend will literally fuck you to death if you dare to have sex wanted everything pale and white. Because the fair folk are good while the darkies are bad.

And here i thought it would be Meyer trying desperately to grab some limelight ala Rowling. nope, just someone spilling stuff that might get them some clicks.

I seem to recall she was gonna publish a series from the POV of the vampire but ssomeone leaked it and so she had a mental breakdown.

Vampires can only sparkle in the sunlight if they're white as diamonds, I guessssssss.

Didn't their kid turn out a bit tan in the film, though? I thought the kid looked dark from what little I saw.

So why did the director just decide to dish this now?

Wait was the only black guy in the entire series one of the vampires? That was it, right? I thought I remembered some Jamaican-looking dude showed up in the third book/film. Is this what she's alluding to, or...?

or maybe that was the only baby they could get to act on the set at the time so they just threw up thier hands. I mean, she gets to grow up super fast so her creepy wolf boyfriend can start screwing her, she doesn't need that much screentime.
