'Twilight' Author would only agree to casting black actor if he played a villain - Slit your wrists twi-hards

A werewolf fell in love with a baby, are you really sure about that?
Do you think I read a twilight book? I just watched the last Twilight movie. There was a scene in it where most of the popular characters died (I actually knew this was coming, hence why I saw the movie) All the tweens whining that what wasnt what happened in the book were enough of a laugh for me.

You guys should really read the article, because while BET is certainly claiming the director said these things, the actual quotes they're using don't support it. The only actual claim to 'racism' is that Meyer didn't want characters who were white in the book, and were based on real white people she knew, to be racewashed for sake of diversity.

Cute how some people think Edward Cullen is the sexiest shirtless vampire in fiction

Meyer is a crazy bitch for writing those terrible books ... But I'm not sure if I buy this story at all.

I've read that the director of the first Twilight movie parted from the franchise under unpleasant circumstances, which is part of the reason why she didn't return to direct the rest of them. Anything could have happened, and she hasn't directed any other noteworthy film since Twilight, so ... Fishing for relevancy?

She could be telling the truth, but there's nothing to back it up. I'm not taking it at face value.

I can't stand the invasion of identity politics in literature and movies. Why do black people feel the need to be part of a culture that they did not create? Why not make their own novel, and their own movies? Instead they want to turn white characters into black, even if said characters are explicitly described as white...

And so here we are. What a crazy world.... Mormons are more based than the rest of the normies. How did this happen? Why do Mormons speak the truth but not the rest of us? It's funny and saddening.

edit: As for Twilight and vampires specifically, why would you want a black vampire? It honestly doesn't look good. Vampires are supposed to be pale as shit cause they can't go out in the sun, duh. Plus, vampires are a folk lore that originated in central Europe. Create your own god damn folk lore, black people.

Twilight was in hindsight an early warning sign how stupid the culture was becoming.

The fact that garbage wasn't laughed out of theaters, instead the generation that grew up to become blue haired shrieking feminists made it a smash success, which says it all.

Well, why would a vampire be black? It's a european thing. If it were a cannibal prince scam fantasy story then I could understand.....
Because black people sometimes wander out of Africa. Why should vampirism affect only whites? The story takes place in modern day America, we've got plenty of niggos.

Wait was the only black guy in the entire series one of the vampires? That was it, right? I thought I remembered some Jamaican-looking dude showed up in the third book/film. Is this what she's alluding to, or...?
I think so.

Agreed. Meyer made a Native American a love interest, she's clearly not super racist.

Its fitting that Rowling never once wrote a black character, but decided after the fact to race bend.
She actually wrote a bunch lol.
The characters that we *know* are black are Angelina Johnson, Dean Thomas, Lee Jordan, Kingsley and the Zabini family. In all cases we are told either that they are black or that they have dark skin, and in addition there's a drawing Rowling did of Dean which clearly shows him as black with cropped Afro hair (Lee iirc has dreadlocks). Plus we have at least two presumably Indian- or Pakistani-origin students (the Patil twins), at least one presumed Jew (Anthony Goldstein) and Cho Chang.

In addition, there are a lot of characters whose ethnicity isn't specified. If we leave aside the rare possibility of albino or red haired people of African or Asian descent, because they're statistically unlikely in such a small population. then any character who hasn't been specified as having pale skin, hair or eyes potentially *could* be black. The early films have a black Lavender, for example, and there's nothing against this in the books. All we know about Lavender's appearance is that she has a wide smile, and she can't be the absolute black you sometimes see in people from the equator, because you can tell from a distance whether she is blushing, That aside, she could be anything you like.

Make it a black cannibal Santeria and/or Voodoo vampire and I'm good. And get a group of black voodoo priestesses to take it out with fire while screaming at the white vampires "BLACK VAMPYRS MATTER" or something equally silly as they kill it.

Original oc pls don't steal

To virtue-signal in hope to get more opportunities in Hollywood?
I guess it's just the writer of the article making shit up per

This is Catherine Hardwicke fapping into the wind. She was either let go or left the series on bad terms, and this diversity stuff never came up at the time. If this is true and she really did push for the Cullen family to be different races, I'm having a hard time seeing the fandom accepting the movie because they were absolutely rabid with the preconceived pictures of the characters they had in their minds. Meyer may have written a mediocre series of books based on a wet dream, but she was right to stand her ground on this.

Lmao this article is bait to the extreme even the comments on the site are pointing this out. Slapping this on BET when Twilight has almost universally been a white teenager/middle aged soccer mom thing.
