Disaster Twitch viewers demand changes as 'topless' meta moves to 'implied nudity' meta

Article

The controversial Twitch ‘topless’ meta has continued to evolve with more streamers switching gears by adding censor bars to their broadcasts to invoke implied nudity.

It’s been a December to remember for Twitch. The Amazon-owned platform has had to deal with two controversial new streaming types and the response has created as much drama as the metas themselves.

It all started when Twitch streamer ‘Morgpie’ went viral for appearing to stream topless, but in an interview with Dexerto, she revealed that she was wearing clothes underneath.

This resulted in Twitch changing its community guidelines to allow for “artistic nudity,” but the site quickly reverted the update after streamers took things too far.

Now, the ante has been upped again as content creators use censor bars to make their streams look more sexual than they are.

On December 19, a Dexerto tweet highlighting streamer Firedancer using censor bars over her bra went viral resulting in other streamers joining in on the action.

Popular hot tub streamer JenFoxxx, formerly known as Indiefoxx, was one such streamer, utilizing censor bars to make it appear as if she was wearing nothing at all.

While this may all be in good fun, that didn’t stop viewers and other streamers from voicing their frustration with the amount of sexual content on the platform.

“Twitch used to be an app for kids btw,” said Kick streamer charc.

“Why not imply a rule to the TOS that both Vtubers and IRL streams need to always show that some type of clothing is being worn? That way, it’s the same for everyone?” suggested artist Kitsunie.

“Twitch has an implied nudity issue that they are refusing to fix,” remarked HUN2R. “Every update they have people just pushing the boundaries as far as they can.”

Others shifted the blame and took issue with the fans watching the content. Parents even chimed in, saying their kids won’t be allowed on the site until their are fixes.

However, not everyone was on board, as some users seemed to voice their approval for the new type of content.

So far, Twitch has yet to comment on this wild new meta and we’ll have to wait and see just how far streamers can push the limit before potential bans are handed out.

Amazon just needs to open a twitch version of pornhub where they can be as naked as they want and all the thots and coomers would fly into it as fast as flies fly to shit.
There's less money in that market. Being on a non porn site brings in bored men who otherwise wouldn't be on a porn site. It turns new men INTO coomers, coomers for the streamer specifically.

Thequarting summed it up pretty well. These women are ugly trash and only get views on Twitch because they stand out more than they would on OF. Plus the the age range for Twitch is a great audience for this. This is the one that started this mess, and I'm not convinced this isn't a troon.

It also advertiser cancer. Most brand advertising departments aren't the brightest bulbs, hence advertising alongside gambling and the softcore porn some twitch channels have become, but even the smoothest brained advertising team knows that you don't want to market netflix or amazon prime alongside a livestream of a midget with a bad dragon. Biting the bullet into full "yea its just porn" is too far past the realm of reasonable for any of them.

Not to mention as soon as you start allowing straight up porn, investigator bodies start paying a LOT more attention to whether you're really sure your producers are actually 18+ and not lying/faking it. The last thing twitch or amazon needs is a scandal for accidentally streaming CP.

I wonder why Twitch just doesn't go all in and make a Porn category?

I mean most of their top "streamers" are nothing more then Only Fan cam whores pretending to play games while milking the shit out of lonely beta males.

I got no issues with women using their bodies to get money from thirsty males, it's a tale as old as time after all, but can we at least by honest about it?

These TOS are enforced by AI.
It's the only reason they can be scammed in this way.
It's also the reason why this flies while a very roughly animated cat with an "x" for an anus is bannable.

If they were enforced by humans they could simply ban anything that could reasonably be considered primarily sexual in nature and there would be no way to skirt the TOS this way.
They can't, because they'd need humans to notice this: AI cannot.

AI is a fraud and always has been.
It should be banned.

Come on, Senior Writer Micheal Gwiliam.
I wonder why Twitch just doesn't go all in and make a Porn category?
I'm assuming that Twitch/Amazon wants to avoid the can of worms that is directly managing a site for uploading pornography, whether it be issues faced by other sites such as having payment processor woes, or just the PR issues of having a site that has both porn/non-porn streaming. Then again, the latter is already happening, and has been happening, considering the reputation the site's developed for being the place young men go to throw money at women through a screen so they will read their username.

As terrible as it is to say, at least guys paying money on OnlyFans get content beyond that. Twitch simpery is ridiculous.

You're forgetting the underage boys that they can bring in because they're not technically a porn site.

How soon until this will also backfired like last time?

Doesn't really matter so long as they can make bank until then. Then they'll move on to the next meta and repeat.

or just the PR issues
Honestly I don't get why it's not currently a PR issue.
I guess more mainstream right wing commentators don't see a 'gaming' website as serious enough for their totally serious culture war or something?

I don't get the appeal of thot streaming

I mean... there's porn. Everywhere. Real porn. Uncensored bobs and vagene. Pretty east European girls kissing each other and sucking dick and everything

Are zoomers really that desperate for parasocial relationships? Sheeeeeit

There's something almost wholesome about titty streamers being a big draw in an age where hardcore porn is free and available anywhere at any time. Men want pretty ladies in pretty clothing being charming and flirty and making eye contact, not just sleazy porno.

But that doesn't make it less of an irritation that this stuff has to invade any streaming site that exists. What's the appeal of cheesecake if your entire diet is cheesecake? And, yeah, the parasocial aspect of it is manipulative and weird. And destructive for the guys who get sucked into simpery.
