Prison Architect was the fucking tits but I heard some buyout shit happened and that the game might suck now? Been a while since I've even touched it so no clue.

game dev tycoon is for autistic 5 year olds
If it's the one I'm thinking of, I didn't really like it because the system for it is retarded in that it gets literally impossible to play after a while because you keep needing more and more of those points to make a good game, but there is only a limited amount you can even possibly produce. City Game Studio is basically the same thing, but a lot more open.

OG theme park and rct1/2/3. TP1 is my childhood and I wish we'd get a modern port. The DS one was such a cocktease.

The closest modern one is Parkitect but that still suffers from being 3D and putting more effort into being visually appealing than being a sim, but it's a lot better than most of the recent others in that respect.

My suggestion would just be to find someone who snagged rct3 when it was free on epic, the build they were distributing works on modern systems and resolutions and is drmfree so you don't need epic itself to play it. Either that or give them 3 bucks or something for it in the sale, it's still a great game,

Does Startopia count as a tycoon game? That was my biggest time sink by far when it comes to management games.

Free Enterprise was also very interesting, but took a lot of time and work to really get underway.

RCT1/2 never gets old.

Zoo tycoon was a childhood staple for me.

If "Sim..." games count, then fully modded Simcity 4 is still the best city builder.
