I feel sorry for the starbucks wage slave being yelled at for just trying to put food on the table, really shows what a lot of these protestors really feel about the middle/lower class that typically fill jobs like that. The irony of these protestors calling for compassion and community outreach.
To go along a bit with the off-topic discussion, there's still a large amount of scholar debate around the Tokyo Trials and its controversy that isn't just limited to Japanese historians. Often, the discussion gets framed around Judge Radhabinod Pal (Who remains well loved in Japan) with his dissenting opinion on the charges and general criticism of the legitimacy of the tribunal. There was also similar criticism for them executing Kōki Hirota given that he was a civilian and didn't have much authority even as foreign minister, Trial just claimed he didn't try hard enough to get the Japanese Cabinet to put an end to the atrocities happening in China and the surrounding area. Anyone with knowledge of how the Kwantung Army acted in Manchukuo or China could tell you how little control the Japanese Cabinet had. There was also the issue of Tomoyuki Yamashita being found guilty of the atrocities his troops committed in the Philippines even when there was no proof he approved or even knew about it, along with many of the troops that committed the crimes weren't under his command at all.
All of this isn't even touching on the the backflips America went through so that nobody from the Imperial family was put on trial even if they were active participants, not talking about Hirohito here (His wartime responsibility is an entire other can of worms) but with Imperial Princes and the like. It also dragged on for far too long compared to the Nuremberg Trials.
have to see if I still have a copy to finish reading it.

There's actually a very interesting book I remember leafing through that wrote about the "what if" situation of if American did decide to go through with the land invasion based off declassified documents. Was called Downfall if I remember correctly,The US did Firebomb Japan, but the A-bombs were a better option (in terms of lives lost on both sides) then a flat out invasion of Japan, hell it wasn't until 2018 or 2019 that we were still using Purple Hearts that were made in anticipation of a Japanese invasion, at least 2018 is when they were starting to run out of them, we might still be using them I haven't found much since 2018 or 2019.
I take so long in typing when talking about history, having to look up things and all. I don't want to just junk my comment but I'll leave it at this so I don't further derail. That said, this slapfight over history is derailing a thread.
