I've played a few non-gacha chink games, and all were surprisingly devoid of politics. Maybe it was merely the fact I was playing their equivalent of cRPGs and horror games (Heaven Dust 2 and Killing Antidote), but there was no retarded political sperging, and the games were clearly aimed at a male audience
A lot of people don’t realize this but the average bugman has no say in politics and thus doesn’t give a fuck about politics. As long as they get through a checklist they don’t have to make it gay and retarded.

China is much more interested in protecting its “cultural IPs” and sensibilities than micromanagement of games 5 people are going to play.

I think it was CS Lewis who said it was better to live under the boot of a brainless Chink hive mind than the colossal Walgreens flip flop of a moral busybody. Because both are Marxist retards but amazingly the one whose ran a (mostly functional) government doesn’t give a fuck about video games beyond bare minimal societal standards.

Even through steam, you're still forced to use their shitty launcher.
That must be a new thing then because it never happened when I played their old games. Wouldn't be remotely surprised if they decided to force that bullshit in retroactively though, seems to be the trendy thing for publishers now.

Well if that's the case then I'd prepare for the worst, if the Games For Windows Live debacle is anything to go by. I own Street Fighter x Tekken and Capcom being the lazy cunts they are never bothered to patch out GFWL integration when it shut down so you literally can't even launch the vanilla Steam version without a fan patch.

$2M just on shills, probably at least $50-100M on other marketing and $200M+ on actual development. All for a Steam peak of 65k players.

ARE YA WINNING, UBISLOP?

I want to highlight just how bad the basic mechanics and graphics of ubi games have become. I recently played fc 3 and aciv, arguably the peak ubi for some people even though I consider them very sloppy. The core gameplay of both was very good, the problem was with the copy pasted content. Aciv has guards who could spot you from a mile away and the pistol was pretty good, fc3 has guns which you get as unlocks for completing stuff and despite having shit navigation was at least playable. From the gameplay I've seen of everything ubi after 2017, you require a fuckton of grinding for anything, AC literally became an rpg which progression locks you unless you complete optional quests, the stealth is completely gone and you need to be at a high level to perform takedowns/ranged kills, the new melee combat is just dogshit. I want to know who let this get this bad, granted 2013 ubi was still copy pasted slop but it wasn't dysfunctional, what the fuck happened to these french faguettes.

I'm getting Veilguard deja-vu here, guess we're beyond the point of "owning the chuds" and past the point of public layoffs(or in this case, your company being bought out) so now we can brag about all the money we wasted on advertising a turd nobody bought!

The same people who ruined Ubisoft in late 2000s ruined Ubisoft in the mid 2020s. This is just the inevitable end result of over a decade of poor decisions.

No mention of Larry Fink Semite Shekels either, which I guarentee were used to help out with this little thing. You've got "ex" commies outed in the Japanese media industry, the (((Lockley))) fanfiction revelations, and the predictable wikipedia historical revisionism to astroturf it all... There's no way some USAID-tier "donations" weren't used to help buoy this cancerous opening salvo of propaganda against nippon. If only the plebs would realize this kind of shit has been going on for decades to the Europeans. Japan needs to get to the back of the bus.

Also, I wonder how much of Kamala Harris's campaign money was used for funding too...

It's actually worse than that.

Buy the dip?

Hello, Pentex. How are you doing today? You posted in this thread a few days back, requesting information on stocks that had huge upside potential with very little downside risk. Does that ring a bell?

Okay, great. The reason for the reply today, Pentex, is something just came across my desk. It is perhaps the best thing I've seen in the last six months. If you have 60 seconds, I'd like to share the idea with you. You got a minute?

The name of the company, Ubisoft. It is a cutting edge high-tech firm out of French Canada with a recently increased Chinese investment interest, awaiting imminent patent approval on the next generation of globohomo that has both huge military and civilian applications. Now, right now, Pentex, the stock trades over-the-counter at 2 dollars and 38 cents a share. And by the way, Pentex, our analysts indicate it could go a heck of a lot higher than that. Your profit on a mere $6,000 investment could be upwards of $60,000! You could pay off your mortgage!

Pentex, one thing I can promise you, even in this market, is that I never ask my clients to judge me on my winners. I ask them to judge me on my losers, because I have so few. And in the case of Ubisoft, based on every technical factor out there, Pentex, we are looking at a grand slam home run.

Is Ubisoft publicly traded? I tried to buy shares when their stock first crashed but I couldn't find it listed.

Yes but because it's traded out of france there's some weird shit with fractional shares and not every brokerage is willing to bother. That's why when you look up ubisoft stock on google you'll see it listed as "1/5 ordinary shares" but when you look it up on Yahoo stocks you'll see it at $10 and change

Even their gacha slop is all about giving the audience what they want.

So either way the chinks decided to go - MTX skinnerboxes or proper games - it's preferable to anything Ubisoft would have shat out.

Now take a moment to think about the statement above and realize just how far the Western gaming industry had to fall for a Chinese takeover to be seen as the preferable alternative.
Nah, a lot of chinks games (and media) do have a lot of politics inside. The stark difference is that they're very subtle that you won't get that it does have politics if you don't read it very closely, especially if you don't know the current culture and politics in China.
If anything a lot of chinks devs are quite fanatic with what they believe in. So if they do like gay shit, there's no way you can evade a gay shit in a game/media they're working on

I think tencent scooped them up last week. They were the majority shareholder and now after shadows flopped, tencent has bought most of their shares. I'm waiting for the complete buyout/acquisition so every journo can publish "china is not so bad guys" thinkpieces and the gamers are split between pro and anti china.

which is unlikely because most authoritarian governments don't glorify globohomo like the west, that kind of stuff like is usually kept on the down low.

and even if china for some reason would go full rainbows and pozz, people will simply buy something else or play old stuff. it would fail for the same reason it did in the west, it's entertainment and basically a luxury, now one is forced to buy dustborn etc. even if it would be the only game in the whole world.
sooner or later someone will supply the demand for non-pozzed shit and make loadsa money.

Chinese politisperging is mostly contained in smaller games that are all called Legendary Saga of the Redemption of Jinding Chuang: The Blade The Bird and the River and it's seething about the ancestor of someone 2300 years ago. The AAA games are more concerned with making money

I think tencent scooped them up last week.
No they didn't. What happened Ubisoft was put perpetual licenses to some of their more popular IPs into a subsidiary and then Tencent took a chunk (but still not all) of the shares in that, on top of their holdings in Ubisoft proper. They do not completely control either entity

Maybe, but the games I played didn't seem to have any overt agenda. Heavenly Dust 2 is basically a Resident Evil clone with a plot as cliché as it gets, there to give you tasks to do. Killing Antidote doesn't even bother pretending the plot is anything but an excuse.

Hero's Adventure: Road to Passion has no overt political agenda. It does feature several quests concerning politics and asks who your character will side with, but all draw inspiration from pre-modern Chinese history. Ditto for basically every other cRPG of theirs that I have tried (Prince of Qin, Seal of Evil etc.).

I'm not going to argue that there aren't games pushing some CCP agenda, but I have yet to encounter one, and the ones I have played are propaganda free, unlike the vast majority of games made in the West.

And isn't that a sad realization to make?

Oh, you'd be surprised with how resilient people who like gay stuff like the danmei. Even with repeated crackdown by the authorities, they still survived like a bunch of cockroaches

Edit:
One thing that a lot people don't know about CCP is that they realize they still need to give their people some sort of liberty, and only crack down on them once in a while to show people who is the boss. Of course, naturally, they're still going to say total no to overt stuff like trannies

Also, a lot of people in the creative spaces (writers/illustrators/animators) in Asian countries especially East Asia are women, and disproportionate amount of them do believe in globohomo causes

Are you sure? I tried looking up online to see if I could get around having to use the ubisoft launcher to play my anno games and no one seems to have a work around.
I know at least Anno 1800 is cracked and playable without an Internet connection at all, Ghost Recon Wildlands never needed their launcher to begin with, an that's pretty much everything I care about from modern Ubisoft.
