Ubisoft Sellout - Bankruptcy Speedrun Any% Thread

A remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag has been officially announced. I'm sure Ubisoft had this in their pocket for a while, especially after Shadow's tepid reception. I suspect Ubisoft will fuck this up somehow.

They'll cut out Edward and make it all about Adewale, also some number-RPG and such bullshit.

there's no way in hell to fix Legion, 99% of the characters play the same and the missions are piss easy and there's no reason to play them.

and that would have been fine if only they had waited for a Civil War era AssCreed game instead
AC doesn't work in an era that close to modern. Syndicate was fucking awful, and a civil war era game would have been the worst parts of Syndicate combined with the wilderness of 3.
When was the last great game that ubisoft launched?
AC4? the pirates game was everything it promised and more. most people i know don't even follow the story, they just sail
I'm pretty sure Pearce was supposed to be the dad, not uncle),
its too bad there's no autist that has done a deep dive on that. because its such a weird thing to have him be this uncle instead of the dad.
He should have become untraceable before he went full-on "Monte Cristo" on his enemies
we find out the guy who went after his family was literally his mentor almost immediately, its hard to be untraceable to a friend. he probably didn't realize his partner was so easily comprimised

also Pawnee isn't anywhere close to chicago why is it like the 5th district?

The technology is not that much more modern than the Revolutionary war. Syndicate took place as tech was getting steam. As for the wilderness, it depends on the missions. America had a lot of differences by then.

I think that is all the more reason to be extra untraceable. Betrayal and all. But I suppose going full "Monte Cristo" is rather hard in that little amount of time. Perhaps more subterfuge?

Ubisoft announces layoffs and the cease of game development at Red Storm Entertainment

A source at Ubisoft has informed GamesIndustry.biz that game development at the long-running North Carolina studio Red Storm Entertainment will cease, with the loss of 105 jobs.

The studio will remain open, but the work of the remaining employees will instead be focused on the Snowdrop engine, along with IT and customer relations.

Red Storm Entertainment was founded in 1996, and it has been closely associated with titles in the Tom Clancy's franchise for most of its existence, including the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series. It was also behind the 2023 Meta Quest 2 game Assassin's Creed Nexus VR.

Recently, Red Storm had been working on an untitled Splinter Cell VR game, which was cancelled in 2022, and Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland, which was cancelled in 2024.

An Ubisoft source said the layoffs at Red Storm were part of Ubisoft's global savings plan, and that departing employees will be offered comprehensive support, including severance packages, to assist them.

Red Storm formed part of Ubisoft's "Creative Network", a cluster of studios outside its five Creative Houses.

Given they were responsible for Div 1's popular PvP update, and the fact Div 2 just announced they're working on one including hiring a new boss to oversee it, would make sense to put them on it.

Speaking of Div 2, I'm curious what other players of it here think of some of the recent announcements. Central Park DLC, new incursion, new classified assignments. Then they dropped details for the new season including the new prototype gear shit.

Also since I know some people here are looking for them specifically, apparently they misspoke during the recent livestream, next season BT retaliations will have a chance to drop crafting blueprints for exclusive exotics (including the raid ones) on completion, not from the new elite kill squad as they said. Might actually be worth farming the absolute shit out of them in that case.

Right now Div 2 is pretty fun and worth it to grab before the end of the Steam Sale. The Anniversary Season has been pretty fun, Realism mode is something I wish stayed around forever, and the recent seasons have been a fun change up (I really like having you own NPC that made soloing stuff / going all in with high risk gameplay easier). I'm looking forward to any new content but I really don't like the new VO they added (I don't need to hear from the quirky black girl talking about the Castle Settlement).

There are some rumbling that Prototype Gear is not quit there yet and is just a constant grind machine on the EA servers through.

I didn't really follow the news but a Central Park DLC soon after that shitty Brooklyn one? Really?

I'm tired of hearing that obese woman. No, I don't want to play your shitty game mode. Leave me alone!

Half the reason I'm going to spend the $6 to buy the Brooklyn DLC is get Keliso to shut the fuck up about Cleaners in Brooklyn every time I spawn near the White House.

Also: When did they start adding in cosmetic to skills? Year 7? Cause that was always my biggest shock they didn't use it the first 5 or 6 years of the game even through the code was already in place and they had some if you bought the Ultimate edition of the game.

I've seen a bunch of people saying this. Personally I tried it, made it as far as getting to Haven and noped the fuck out. Thankfully for you guys that like it, it's likely to come back at some point once it has some actual systems/progression and the like in place.

Not quite there yet is the polite way of putting it. My personal descriptor would be more like "badly thought out, horribly implemented absolute shit show. The drop rates on PTS were so poor (myself and several others got maybe 1 or 2 pieces over multiple hours of play) means it isn't even a real grind since there's no practical way to get loot. You'd be much better off simply farming exotics to Expertise shit to lvl 30 and then praying to RNGesus that you get more than the minimum rolls while prototyping.

Yeah, they announced it during the anniversary stream, supposed to land sometime in Year 8 . I hope that either they've been secretly working on it for a while, or during Ubisoft's reorganisations they got a lot more devs because Brooklyn had multiple delays and took years to produce

Yeah sometime in the last year. On the one hand I kinda like it and I'm glad it's getting more use, and if retards overpaying for them helps fund development then cool. However I am completely and utterly fucking sick of that bat drone and it's stupid fucking screeching at this point.

The modern sports-wheelchair design is absolutely perfect, too. "We wanted to stay as true to history as possible, and although we're aware they probably didn't have steel and carbon-fiber high-performance wheelchairs in the 1700's, we felt it was an acceptable break from reality to ensure a smooth, exciting and fun gameplay experience. And you never know, those magical negroes sure were clever back then! Maybe they did have something like this!"
