while large part of it is "free" marketing, it's also used for connectivity, load testing and compatibility in the wild (you can only test so many different combinations in a lab)
nah, just ubisoft. similar happened in breakpoint, at some point they even fucked up the battlepass so hard they just gave everyone everything for free at the end.

I kind of recall there being a thing where you kill/kidnap a guy in Watch Dogs who ended up being a dude who went missing during the modern day segment in Assassins Creed Black Flag.
(Edit: I think there were Abstergo containers in Far Cry 3 too, if you want to count that.)
I don't think there was much more than that besides cosmetics carrying over and such. I do remember some retards trying to claim there was a shared Ubisoft universe because Tom Clancy games are linked, but I'm not convinced those weren't AI Bots going haywire.
They probably had ambitions for it, but I think it was abandoned as a serious thing after Watch Dogs fell flat.

How would a share universe even work with The Division around? Everything would just basically be: Before The Division / After The Division. Little Easter eggs here and there sure but nothing shared could really work.
