lol, ubisoft on strike in France because they don't want to go back to the office
This week's strike, caused by a September message from management insisting on a return to three days working in the office for all staff worldwide, follows on from another walkout in February when hundreds in France joined a dispute over pay.

Unions said they had received no response to the grievances aired in February and that the September message was "the straw that broke the camel's back", Clément Montigny, a delegate for the Montpellier studio's video game workers’ union (STJV), told French news agency AFP.

Ubisoft managers told staff in an email that returning to the office was vital to foster creativity, and promised to give workers time to adjust.

The trade unions are denouncing the decision, which was taken without consultation, and around 50 people were reported on a picket line in Montpellier, with Ubisoft offices in Annecy, Lyon and Paris also expected to be affected.

'A right recently acquired'

The company wants its 4,000 French employees to return to the office at least three days a week.

"This decision is quite unfair. We're going back on a right that employees have recently acquired," Marc Rutschlé, Solidaires informatique union delegate, told franceinfo.

Some employees will not be able to come back to the office as much. Like this Ubisoft employee who now lives hundreds of kilometres from the Paris headquarters: "I've had to move house, so I can't come back for three days face-to-face. I'm going to have to ask myself whether I should leave the company or not, because I'm going to have to make a choice between staying with the company or making a choice for a better quality of life."

According to the unions, staff departures, including some rare profiles, could jeopardise video game production in France.

In France the LFI party(far-leftists bobos) already bitched about Unity back in the days.
I remember that. At the time Mélenchon was a member of the Socialist Party, opened his big mouth to whine about the Révolution but nobody really gave a crap.
One thing though, one of the writers who worked on AC Unity originally wanted to make Nicolas Sarkozy a Templar but they ended up scrapping that idea because they feared that he would have sued Ubisoft for libel. This was when the writers were turning every personality or politician they hated into templars.

How could I not know this, this is hilarious. Now I wished we had a full on evil templar Sarko. I mean if you dig enough about him, it is clear he is already an extremely corrupt asshole and a borderline war-criminal. Making him a templar would have been very tepid.

And for those unaware, Sarkozy, once our dear Leader here, was already parodied extensively, notably by les Guignoles. He is also outright mocked for his ways of compenseting for its height. He has an ego the size of the Eiffel tower.

Them being sued for such bullshit might have accelerated their downfall if that happened. At least they had the braincells not to do it but that would have been hilarious and sad to watch.

When you make a Prince of Persia game, but you didn't play as The Prince.

Too bad they gave the main character the required Black Man Dreadlocks hair cut while sideling the actual Prince of Persia.
it's the fucking killmonger look from black panther.
i can work past a bad haircut. i cant work past bad gameplay. remember whats most important with the game part of a game

The Sands of Time trilogy has a special place in my heart, but I was already disappointed a long time ago by Forgotten Sands. Was the 2008 reboot any good?

I have an unending hatred for that "game" since it came out. Not only because it was after pretty much abandoning PoP since Assassin's Creed 1's success, it doesn't follow up anything from the GOAT trilogy. It has literally no combat and you just cannot die with mind rapingly easy puzzles. I don't think "Prince" even talked at all in that dogshit. I'm pretty sure it was the first walking sim I ever played. It does not meet any criteria to be called a game let alone being worthy of the name Prince of Persia. Of course journos eat that slop up but it didn't go anywhere. I've never checked but I hope I have never bought a game that any of the retards responsible for 2008 bs had anything to do with including cleaning floors and catering.

Fuck that trash

Tried to Replay Far Cry 3 and Black Flag. Key word is tried. Gave up after the first quarter, a lot of the gameplay becomes extremely boring busy work which gives diminishing dopamine returns. I dont remember what made me enjoy them enough to finish them in the first place. Why are Ubi games designed like this? Blood Dragon is good though, I think partly cause theres no skill tree and all skills are unlocked in the beginning.

I've seen Far Cry 3 mentioned in relation to how far Ubisoft has fallen, and it reminded me of something. The game being as beloved as it is was a total fluke on Ubislop's part. Anybody familiar with how Vaas came to be? He's arguably the main thing people praise the game for and I don't really remember much else as memorable as that character.

Michael Mando, the voice actor for Vaas, auditioned for a different character originally. Vaas did not exist at the time. When doing auditions for the voice acting role, he auditioned in full costume and decided to reinvent the character during the auditions, putting his own personal spin on it. Ubislop did not like it and told him he did not get the part.

Well, fast forward to when promotional material came out for Far Cry 3. Upon seeing Vaas in the promotional material, people that knew Michael was congratulating him for being cast as the character, which was a total a surprise to him! Yes, Ubislop basically aped his idea and made the new character look like him without even telling him. He contacted the studio after finding out and managed to get cast as the role.

I would argue that if this guy did not audition, the game would not be as remembered like it has been. It would probably end up blurring together with the other games Ubisoft has made. I mean, I barely remember anything about the other villain in the game (the one Ubisoft created) but can remember just about every scene Vaas is in, despite last playing it nearly a decade ago. It's sad that when people praise the character, they are praising the wrong people.

I would love to get smashed in the head again by the guy, but I'm not dealing with that fucking launcher. Even if the quality of their games stayed the same, that thing is a deal breaker for me.
Pretty cool, Mando was great in Better Call Saul. I sadly never got around to play FC3 because my PC back then was too shitty to handle it.
a teaser for the next AC bullshit "hexe" whatever that means
It's german for "Witch".
probably just wandering around Europe as a gypsy
Oh, they're setting this one in the present times? :story:

Anybody in here like Rayman?

Get ready for it to be ruined. Best case scenario, it fizzles out and gets cancelled.
Rayman is dead and rabbids killed him. If Ubisoft feels the need to dig up his corpse, you know things are truly looking desperate.
The Rayman 4 fan project that is finishing up the leaked build that was shared at the end of 2022 is looking more promising, despite having trannies working on it.

I remember when I was 7 and rented Rayman on the N64. Never beat it. I just remember getting to the area with the lady with blue hair (fairy?) and she's like stuck in this stasis thing with electricity (?) and i was running past her and the camera zoomed in on her face and it scared the shit out of me that I turned it off. Don't ask. I was 7.

Apparently the new Rayman is the guy who played Jin in Xenoblade 2.

If Ubi was smart they'd get rid of Yasuke entirely and focused on Naoe. She's looking fantastic imo. I just want to run across rooftops and infiltrate buildings and slash people.

What exactly would make ubi delay it? Glitches? Unfinished? Like is this an ME3/DA2 situation and they want to avoid rushing it out and genuinely perfect it?

I bet it was the whole thing with the guy who wrote about Yasuke because I admit I didn't even realize he fucked it up until it was revealed. Technically in a way I don't blame Ubi for being misled. Even if his more 'known' stuff was fictional they could still make something out of it.

It isn't hard. Darkie Serving Under Nobunaga is the template and there's so much you could do starting there. Remember this is the same franchise where the Pope had the Apple of Eden.

I didn't even know Forgotten Sands was a thing...
From what I remember, SoT trilogy was great, and morphed into Asassin's Creed 1. The 2008 rebot was utter dogshit that just seemed like an attempt to keep PoP as a name, without diluting NEW FRANCHISE too much.
