Posting this more for fun than out of any sense of it being meaningful data, but here's the Steam stats for the most recent entry in each series.Even for a "big 3" it might not be enough. Assassin's Creed is in decline (and no idea how they manage a new setting after using most of the good ones), Far Cry 6 was not well received and came out 4 years ago and FC7 hasn't been even announced or shown yet, and has the same problem of Assassin's Creed of "what do we even do in a sequel besides just make the same game in a new place". I don't know enough about Rainbow Six to know how it's doing but Siege seems to get openly mocked for having increasingly silly operators added to the game.

Isn't it so sad that everyone hopes to GOD that these studios forget about their favorite games entirely because they know that even if they decided to stop making incomplete F2P cash grabs with store page priority, they would still get their board realigned by investors?no post-purchase monetization, but there is no way the investors would allow it.
This is the key problem with Ubisoft, Bioware, and plenty of other similar publishers and studios sitting on legacy IPs. Anyone with any real talent or at least people who actually gave a shit, all left a decade or more ago.My two cents is that even if they did knuckle down and commit to focusing on quality sequels to these franchises it's a) not possible because all their talent already quit and b) wouldn't matter because the hype these IPs once held has been thoroughly eradicated.
Ubisoft has been botting every single one of their engagements and doing shady shit on the side out of desperation to keep itself afloat for months now. You would think the Ubisoft thread would know this already. Do I need to point out every single instance of it over the years? Are you naive enough to think they wouldn't artificially boost their numbers to save their own skin at a time like this, especially when they've been essentially stealing player accounts or literally selling them off in some circumstances? Isn't it a bit suspicious that Ubisoft has been caught botting every single one of their games right after begging Steam to remove playercounts on their platform(so they wouldn't get caught)? So your evidence is another KF user saying the same thing as you (but about an entirely different metric) while providing zero sources? That's just silly.
Well, Ubisoft doesn't own their main breadwinner IPs anymore and the ones they do don't meant jack shit. I guess they should be happy that they themselves own nothing of value, right?
Didn't Ubisoft effectively already sell of its intellectual property to another division of itself that is co-owned by Tencent? So basically nothing they do matters.Holy shit nigger, how retarded can Ubisoft be? After the fucking disaster that was Shadows, you'd think they would be clawing at any opportunities for good PR, but instead they are literally doing the "You will own nothing and be happy" meme
They're throwing one last temper tantrum because they know Ross' movement won't accomplish anything. One more smug sneer at the much hated "gamers" before they go quietly into the night. All it does is make Tencent look even better for saving the company from themselves.I imagine they're precedent fighting (as in putting up a battle to stop rule changes in the future that might fuck over their bottom line and/or microtransaction dollars)
only asscreed, siege (or all of r6) and far cry I think. three of the biggest, for now they still own the rest.Didn't Ubisoft effectively already sell of its intellectual property to another division of itself that is co-owned by Tencent? So basically nothing they do matters.

Don't the chinks now own all of Tom Clancy brand? If that's the case, they own much more than just R6.only asscreed, siege (or all of r6) and far cry I think. three of the biggest, for now they still own the rest.
They own something like 12 percent of Ubisoft, which owns the whole brand and an additional 25 percent of Seige specifically. So, no.Don't the chinks now own all of Tom Clancy brand? If that's the case, they own much more than just R6.
Also, imagine how the man himself would feel if he knew
Imagine being in the precarious position Ubisoft is in and still going out of your way to antagonize and alienate customers, and casting doubt about the long-term viability of your online store.
They do not care. Ubisoft has gone on the record, publicly and loudly, opining that you do not own anything you pay them for, and that you need to get used to it because that's how it's going to be. They have been acting on that belief for over a decade. They believe they are right (legally and morally).Holy shit nigger, how retarded can Ubisoft be? It boggles the mind that there are still people out there who defend this company, no matter how tangentially or indirectly. Tencent can't cannibalize it for parts soon enough. They do not care. "Fuck you, pay us" might as well be their official corporate motto. It's certainly their publicly-stated attitude.
M-m-m-m-m-Mutt's Law.Our African bull always tells me „U be soft“ before he bangs my wife.
What did he mean by this?
Should I play more Assassins Creed?
Hey! Nintendo is stealing Ubislop's business model!opining that you do not own anything you pay them for, and that you need to get used to it because that's how it's going to be. They have been acting on that belief for over a decade.

What people don't realise is that franchises have a sort of inertia and momentum to them. Nothing just dies, it takes some time to slow down and stop. Controversies and other stuff can help slow them down, but the truth is nothing just stops when the previous entry was good. They've already stopped.
Like sure, there's not a world where everybody stops - but enough of Ubi's games have sold poorly enough that the studio's entire future is uncertain (and there have already been satellite studio closures). It's very likely they're going to downsize to three studios that are at least 25% owned by Tencent and just make Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy/R6 games.
Even for a "big 3" it might not be enough. The reality is that Ubisoft might already be dead and not know it yet - the few extra steps a chicken can take after it's own decapation.
Kind of. They set up a new company specifically for AssCreed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six, and Tencent owns a 25% stake in that on top of whatever they already own of Ubisoft.Didn't Ubisoft effectively already sell of its intellectual property to another division of itself that is co-owned by Tencent? So basically nothing they do matters.
i think a point we're missing is the microtransactions, but the data I was using was as follows.
Each franchise will get a free mobile live service game and it will print money. Worked for COD, that's the end game even if "premium" releases on PC and console get left in the dust.Kind of. They set up a new company specifically for AssCreed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six, and Tencent owns a 25% stake in that on top of whatever they already own of Ubisoft.
Not sure what this was intended to accomplish (except maybe distract Tencent from their aggressive pursuit of buying Ubisoft outright,) but given Shadows' stillbirth, Far Cry being on unofficial hiatus and Rainbox Six doing nothing but Siege for a decade it feels like delaying the inevitable.
