Troll Sentenced

After being charged in June, Daniel Kilvington, 23, of Spring Bank, Hull, has received his sentence.

Now, after appearing before the Magistrates court, Daniel has been found guilty of seven offences of sending malicious communications. Each of the offences were committed using social media. The legal term of this offence is to "send by public communication network an offensive/indecent/obscene/menacing/ message/matter".

On Monday (4th December) Daniel was sentenced at Hull Magistrates Court to 18 weeks in custody. He also received an indefinite Criminal Behaviour Order, which prevents him from harassing people on social media. The Judge presiding this case called it a "very disturbing case".

What Is Trolling?

Trolling is the act of posting inflammatory or inappropriate messages or comments on the internet. The main purpose of which is to upset the recipient and get a response from them.

In most cases the person "trolling" will hide behind a face social media account, to try and disguise their identity.

Police Statement
PC Nicola Adamson of Humberside Police said:
We treat trolling as a serious offence which brings serious consequences. Kilvington sent malicious messages to four strangers on social media with the sole intention of causing them upset and anger. The victims had suffered personal tragedy and he chose to target them for no discernible reason.

His actions made his victims lives misery and made already difficult situation worse. I hope he is truly disgusted with himself. This case and sentence should serve as a warning to other people that if they commit such offences they face not only arrest but imprisonment.

What to do if you are a victim?

The best way to stop someone online trying to "troll" you is to ignore them. Their main aim is to get a reaction out of you. If you receive ongoing harassment from the troll then try to keep a log of the messages, especially those coming from someone’s personal account.

Once you’ve built up your log of incidents then contact Humberside Police, either through 101 or at a station. Be sure to show them all the evidence you have.

You can't spell cUcK without UK.

Enjoy your soggy rainy island shithole you Britbong fags, at least until you get snackbarred.

I want to know what he posted, is there anyway of getting access to court documents?

The Ministry of Truth has classified that information, Citizen.

Please report immediately to Room 101.

If we'd just let Lord Buckethead work his way up, the UK would be a better place.

The fact he sent stuff to people going through personal tragedies suggests he was one of the mentally diseased fuckwits the Daily Mail did a piece on a long while back.

They get their kicks by finding obituaries of real tragedy deaths, kids with leukaemia or wasting diseases, and then hit the mother up on facebook to say it was all her fault for being a whoring whore.

They deserve a good kicking, and if we had the kind of society where police would look the other way when it happened, instead of coddling the turds, then we would get into situations like this.

Where do you even think you are?

Do you have a source?

Well, everyone, looks like we're all going to get arrested. It was fun while it lasted, see you guys in prison :(
We should form a prison pack. I can't survive a day in the slammer, they can only use typewriters to post on the forms.
Fun fact: The prison system in America is the only reason why the last american type writer company is still surviving. The reason is that it's clear so nothing can be hidden in them so they're prison safe.

If actually quoting what this guy supposedly said that got him sent to prison would help the narrative, they'd have quoted it.

I'm assuming he didn't say shit that deserved jail time.

He could have been making threats and incessantly harassing people. But this is the UK internet police. So I'm thinking it's likely he hurt too many feefees. The fact that the posts aren't available makes it impossible to go by anything other than the information given. There isn't even a synopsis of what they contained. That's really sketchy. I'd say that he's been made an example of like that guy in Canada that was banned from the internet for disagreeing with a feminist. I think eventually that was overturned.

The internet is not a safe space. People need to stop trying to turn it into one.

I was once the target of some frightening threats on AIM. The only thing that kept me from calling the police was that the guy said he lived in Alaska. I decided to take his word for it. If he was trolling then it sure was convincing. I reported it to AOL, which I had at the time, and I blocked him. I have no idea if they did anything or if he really was dangerous. I'd say a person of that ilk deserves to be reprimanded. But a troll hurting feefees is not on that level at all and we shouldn't equate them with each other because they are not the same.

What was within the messages might be being concealed for the safety of the victims as it could be rape or death threats.
