Actually, most of it was rebuilt/repaired after WWII, Warsaw being one of the most prolific examples. Today, a lot of it is being torn down for hideous shit to "better compete economically." Hell, in the 1990s, the IRA bombed London's Edwardian era Baltic Exchange and a 1980s office building, both repairable, while the former was replaced with a purple pickle tower and the latter repaired only to be demolished quite recently for another tower.

The article has nothing to do with population only attitudes and social issues. Like I said, whilst everyone is being all "Praise Glorious Nippon", as if Japan is some model for how to conduct firm immigration control, they forget 2 things : they dont count foreigners unless they have registered status (unimportant really) and even with a small number of them, they've still managed to do what they usually do. I don't know, I'm in the sciences and a lot (and I mean, a lot) of people working in the field are immigrants. Mostly from China and India, some from Eastern Europe. All of them are working their ass off. Most Americans nowadays seem to ignore science and research for the most part, so we're basically stealing talent from the second world. The thing is we can't import the entire third world to the first. The thing is, in India, English is their official language. Chinese also learn English and there is a custom of taking a second, English name if you emigrate. Eastern Europe and Africa, no idea. Language gives you a common ground and typically there are high standards of education in some people that emigrate in this manner.

Make no mistake, the refugee crisis has made certain people, mostly criminal and terrorist orgs, a lot of money. NGOs that 'help' migrants are often helping people who paid every last dime to a criminal group just to get to a point to migrate.

Integration from mass immigration doesn't take a year or two, it takes decades. It took nearly 50 years before Europeans from the mass immigration of the 19th century into America to be accepted, and there are still cultural holdovers from that time.
