obsessed wrestling fans are great lolcows.
There was this one girl who was a bitch to me in High School. We had homeroom together. She was a wrestling fan and "Wrestling is Fake" was her "Sonic is dead." I wish I had used it more often.

Mankind was my favorite as a kid. I really want to meet Mick someday.

"Wrestling is fake" is "Sonic is Dead" for a lot of wrestling fans I've noticed. They try to get into the whole "NO ITS JUST PREDETERMINED!!!" deal. Why they take such offense is beyond me.

"they know how to fall!"
"it takes years of practice!"
"they still get hurt!"

love all of those

What I love is that even with all those it is still fake. I mean unless they get into a real fight during the match it is fake fighting at the end of the day. Stunt men get hurt all the time. Doesn't mean they're really spies or whatever.

I wouldn't call it fake at all. It's scripted, sure, but they really get hurt. There's nothing fake about that. But that's just the way I see it. I guess it's just how you look at it.

I feel like "pre-determined" IS a more accurate description than "fake"... but that picking someone up on it is pretty much verging on pedantry. You know it's like boy bands insisting they're actually "vocal harmony groups" or whatever. It just come off as precious in a way that has the totally opposite effect to the assumed goal of getting people to respect wrestling/wrestling fans more..

Calling wrestling "scripted" is a total nonsense and plays into the common misconception that it's choreographed.

Fake will do fine for me as will "so what?" as a response to anyone saying it is. I feel like wrestling would get more respect if people just owned up to it being a really bizarre and unique genre of fiction rather than trying for "legitimacy"

I agree. "Fake" implies they don't really get hurt. "Scripted" implies it's choreographed like you said. "Pre-determined" seems most suited to describe it after all.

From a performer's standpoint, the idea is to not hurt yourself or the other performer while making it look real enough to suspend disbelief. So I would consider it more stage fighting than anything. The risk is there and you do get bumped around, but you are trying not to get hurt. However, lucha and flippy cruiserweights are totally choreographed.

^ Sunny was awesome in the late-90's. She's living proof that nobody should do drugs.

And everyone, the correct term is that wrestling is "worked". :geek: :hulkster:

These guys are creepy, even by wrestling fanboy standards. I do pro wrestling, and there are some people out there that are convinced it is 100% real. They also think our resident 'gay' character is actually gay...and want to beat the hell out of him (we wrestle in the South).

I can honestly tell you all that the outcome is the only thing pre-determined in small shows, with a LOT of it being improvised. We might have high spots, but those are used to dictate the pace and are kind of like the ends of a book chapter. Lucha might have more of these 'chapters' in the book, but most of the indy stuff you see is improv.

As for the fans....haters are gonna hate, marks are gonna mark.

205. Ahmed Johnson did a lot of coke back around 1996 at the height of his WWF pay. I don't think I have to tell you that Chris and Tammy enjoy their fair share of nose candy. Well once they had blown through their cash but were still jonesing, they got desparate. They asked Ahmed for an eight ball on credit. He laughed and said, "Black people don't believe in credit. But we can barter." Chris asked what he wanted and Ahmed nodded in her direction. Chris looked at Tammy who shrugged before he said, "Well hey don't hurt her, okay?" So like twenty minutes later Ahmed finishes and Tammy leaves his room with the tiny, paper envelope. Instead of going back and using it with Chris (who was in their room freaking out), she did the coke with Shawn Michaels and spent the night in his room. A few hours later a frantic Candido starts banging on Ahmed's door. Ahmed answers the door and Candido asks, "Is Tammy here?" Ahmed shrugs and Chris says, "Where the fuck is Tammy?" Ahmed says he doesn't know because she left hours ago. Candido immediately abandons his search and says, "Well did she take the dope with her?" The next morning he still hasn't seen Tammy so he goes to the front desk where he runs into Shawn Michaels in the lobby. Shawn walks up to Candido and pushes a nostril close, sniffs, and says, "Thanks for the bump, Chris." Chris asked where Tammy was and Shawn said, "She's probably back in your room now." Candido stormed up to see her, got in a big argument, went to the building, and quit on the spot. The agent told him he couldn't quit w/o a written notice. So he picked up a booking sheet, flipped it over, and wrote: "I quit. Chris Candido" And that was the end of his WWF career.

There also some other funny stories/rumor about Sunny on there too.

Man, I didn't know Sunny was still a thing. She still looks pretty good too.

These are some amazingly awkward photos. The guy in the Metallica shirt is scared shitless in both photos. Most likely because a woman is touching him in a bed! Oh well, I guess Sunny has to put up with creepy sperglords now to pay the bills.

I'm more a casual wrestling fan but due to having worked in a few hotels I've been able to meet a few at random. The only time I almost fanboyed a little was when Mick Foley showed up one night looking for a room. I was just making general small talk but in my head I felt about 15 years old. After I handed him the keys I shook his hand and told him he was my hero when I was a kid. It was the only time I've told someone that. Then his wife went "aaaaaw" and I felt dumb... but it was in an "I just met my idol" way so it was all good. :D

Anyway, I've met a few other wrestlers, like the guys from Cryme Tyme, but Foley was hands down the most awesome.

If I were a wrestler that's the kind of crowd I'd want to work in front of. I'd rather get real heat than have a crowd full of cynical, know-it-all, smart marks who only fap to "five star" matches.

Anyway, sorry for OT....um, Sunny's a former crackwhore. :asperchu:

Speaking of Sunny again....there a girl on twitter name skankykaityn who want to pay and eat Sunny's shit.

From former, 'most downloaded woman on the internet,' to future lolcow collateral damage in less than 20 years?

Yes! I think she can!

I only sperged out after meeting one guy so far, and I've met and wrestled several legends like Tommy Rich and Tito Santana. I met William Regal right after WrestleMania in Atlanta. They were all getting on the bus, and I just bumped into him, shook his hand, and said thanks. He did a LOT of coke in his days too.

Hi. This is Bret Hart. Can confirm I've been having Sunny Days.
