I think that among all film-centric "shows", the one that most genuinely has that old youtube feeling of it just being friends hanging out and having engaging conversations is the oft overlooked "Welcome to the Basement".
It has a good format that summarizes a film with sufficient visual material included as to make it unnecessary to watch the film yourself if it's garbage, but not so much as to stretch out the episode to a ridiculous degree - I feel the editing respects my time.
Matt and Craig both have a background in (shakespearian) theater and Matt has also directed and voice acted, so these are people that not only have a passion for cinema, but have worked in theater and on films. This is one of their older episodes that shows off their formula quite well imo.
You may know this channel from way way back in 2006 if you were an early Youtube watcher, when they had a brief viral success with "Chad Vader - Day Shift Manager"

Pretty much everyone that I would have mentioned has been brought up already, so I'll give a shoutout to my current favorite obscure YT channel, 8 String Fury, mainly does videos on Genesis games and goes into detail about the development of them, especially highlighting the music, but does it in a way that's both concise and entertaining.

Excelblem - A YouTuber who does Fire Emblem meme playthroughs, usually iron men without quality of life features, though plenty of exploits. It's the innocent fun kind of autism.

Grim Dark (Half Off)

I found out about him from a lot of his Conan the Cimmerian coverage, but he covers a lot of stuff and also started dabbling in fitness related content as he is a certified trainer.

Recently found some sort of cancer in his abdomen and posted a video where he stated he doesn't think he'll survive it, but he was also clearly high as fuck on pain meds and has stayed fairly upbeat in his community postings so I'm not sure how serious/terminal it actually is.

But yeah, might be worth looking into if your into grim dark/low fantasy/pulp stuff.

"Danae plays" on YouTube. She streams Morrowind regularly to a very small, seemingly quite pleasant audience on YouTube. Also on twitch but I just watch her longer uploads on YouTube. Really good for chill, interesting gaming videos even if you're not into morrowind, she turns it into a new game with crazy obscure mods regularly. Definitely hope people check her out, one of my favourite internet gems in the last decade.

CJU Games, one of the few horror game let's players left who doesn't have his face in every thumbnail (he also only has his webcam on at the start and end of the videos), doesn't talk about or insert current day events or politics at any point, and also reacts to everything honestly. He just plays horror games and only focuses on the game he is playing, nothing more. In contrast, I used to watch the likes of John Wolfe but he fell into streaming and dressing in drag for charity, along with making comments about politics etc when all I wanted was some chill background videos.

Not sure how well known he is, but Matt Barton focuses on 80s and 90s CRPGS and frequency has the developers of some of the games he discusses on to interview. Interesting show for oldfag vidya enthusiasts

The Byte Attic B.V. is doing things in the retro-computing scene that makes everyone else involved look like utter klutzes and has less than seven thousand subscribers. It's insane.

It's been over a year and you're banned but you're the only person I could find on this site that that mentioned him, if anyone sees this post and finds GDHO and noticed he hasn't uploaded in a year, he passed away October 28th of last year at 29-30 years old.
Too young, will leave a Conan shaped void on the internet.

Since nobody talks about it here, CrackerMilk is the funniest channel on youtube. They don't hit 100% of the time, but they hit more than any other comedy channel I've seen.

For me it's GrogTV, whose content can best be described as Top Gear if it was a youtube channel made by a zoomer.

Anyone watch Alexander the Guest? He’s a Hungarian Michelin Star restaurant owner(not a chef) and travels to all these different 3 Michelin star restaurants. He’s weirdly become my comfort YouTuber
