Although in a lot of leftist spaces flirting with a fully grown adult who simply didn't asked to be flirted with is considered sexual assault, I've seen people get "exposed" for the crime of that and thrown out of communities. I watched one video of his forever ago and what stood out to me is how completely autistic he is. Like "I'm impressed he takes care of his hair that well" autistic. Loud, poor verbal emotion, spends the entire video rocking in his chair in the face cam. He talks like an autist in that specific phrasing where you can tell they only know how to interact from learning via LP commentators.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was yet another case of autistic guy does autistic things like being weird around women or not understanding boundaries/appropriate contact.

Edit: He was even taken off the contributer role in the Discord for that Calamity mod for Terraria, whatever it is seems to be far more than just a simple meltdown or suicide.

My guess would be a mix of popularity and how long it's been out. A lot of its current fans were people who were in middle school or high school when the first game came out, got hooked on the game, and because of that literally never grew out of the retarded "lol quirky" shit most teenagers grow out of during highschool because they made this game their entire personality. That and unlike a lot of other tumblr-faggot shit this game actually has new, young fresh fans constantly entering the community. Like throwing chum in the water for any groomers or maladjusted adults.
