I replayed the game, and saw these lines of dialogue for the first time, so now i have a schitzo theory.

In chapter 3 Kris got undyne involved specifically to undermine the Knight's goal of kidnapping Toriel. Rudy knows this. Considering how likely it is that Carol is working with the knight, Undyne as the current chief of police, is already hanging. Sacrificing her for Toriel is the smart play in this situation. What i'm getting at, is that Rudy knows what Carol is up to, and he's playing Kris against her. If i had to guess why, its because he knows he's dying, and that Carol won't let go of him, in the same way she never let go of Dess.

Rudy Knight is a fun theory, but if having Kris bait Undyne to the house was intentional, they would need an unreal level of planning, like imagine Undyne's late for whatever reason, how many times can Rudy realistically fake trying to kidnap Toriel, and fake beating up Kris, while really beating the shit out of Susie and Ralsei, before one of them realizes what's up? That being said I could see chapter 3 being entirely kayfabe for susie's benefit to get her to fit the role they want her to play in the prophecy better.

Personally, this was a long time coming. What do you mean a whole decade has passed between the OG Undertale and Deltarune is almost 10 years old, two highly influential games that have fans all around the world and the only other official translation is still the japanese one?? But i also understand Toby's pov. Given how much of a weeb he is he very likely had a lot of experience with shitty translated and localized games and stuff, so it's not a surprise he wants to be more involved in the translation.
