Undertale

what do you guys think of the dess is an adopted human theory
Kris becomes uncomfortable when simply looking at images of other humans, I don't this would be the case if he literally grew up with one who was also banging his brother.

Also Dess' shoes are explicitly mentioned as having been fitted for hooves. So there's that.

It's a cute idea for fanart, but not very solid as a theory. Outside of making her a parallel to Kris I don't see much that it adds to the story.

Unless the reason he can't look at them is because of guilt, over causing Dess to be lost in darkness. Every time he sees a human, maybe it reminds him of her.

But we know for a fact she did grow up with humans.
We know she grew up with a human who was also a giant asshole that enjoyed frightening her.

If Dess was also human then surely Noelle would be more scared about Kris specifically rather than being frightened of humans in general, especially given Dess was also the person that would smack the shit out of Kris for teasing Noelle to begin with.

Noelle would also have spent significantly more time with her sister than with "the creepy kid" she hung out with sometimes because their parents were friends from college.

I like how the monster religion is literally just pic related.

I mean, I guess Toby didn't want to start any shit but it has a large plot presence and I'm still mildly disappointed over how wishy-washy it all is.
I wanted something esoteric dammit.
I would prefer the religion be relatively vague and still portrayed somewhat positively as it is than more concrete and an obvious dig at Christianity like every other depiction of organized religion on the planet.

Bit of a tangent but I was watching someone play YIIK the other day and the ending where reality begins to fall apart got me wondering. Could that piece of shit be the game he was referring to when he mentioned somebody making "a very similar idea" to what he had for Deltarune?

I suppose that's fair enough. It's just kind of strange to have an (apparently, given it has a whole church and everyone in town is involved) mainstream centralized religion that seemingly has zero moral restrictions or principals in it's text and doesn't really require anything from it's followers in terms of what they should and shouldn't do. It doesn't even have a concept of sin or seemingly any concept of an afterlife.

It's more or less just a doomsday prediction, but not even a rapture-type situation where the wheat and chaff are separated and the lessons of the religion are important, it's literally just "one day an angel is gonna come and shit is gonna get really fucked up, then some people will save the world and shit will be fine again. The end."

It's like if you called the people who thought the world would end on Y2K a religion. Or the Mayan Calendar 2012 believers.

I think that was confirmed, or at least heavily speculated, to be Omori. I didn’t play it so I don’t know.

People speculate Omori but aside from dead girl I don't really see it. YIIK with the world falling apart, the inevitable end of all things, the prophecized futility of your struggle, and the protagonist having to reach out to the player in a meta way to save the day, feels exactly like something Toby would do.

The game decompiles itself and you need to learn the 7 secret techniques of slopcode to mergesort the monsters in castle town in less time than the titans need to destroy the world?

Omori seems to be the game the fandom tends to assume he was talking about, YIIK would be the much funnier answer so that's now what I believe. Didn't Toby actually tweet about YIIK before it became the butt of everyone's collective joke?
Also they have to play the good music instead of the new shitty one.
You dare speak ill of my funky castle town?

it has to be Omori. Omori is also about "repressing memories" and bouncing between the "fantasy world" and the real world. Omori was very underwhelming, in my opinion, and tedious. I liked the ending, but the whole game didn't feel worth it. Deltarune is way more engaging and fun, and even though I still am more attatched to Undertale characters I have more investment in Deltarune characters than I do Omori.

YIIK would be infinitely funnier though. Didn't Toby do a song for it? Let's get an Alex YIIk man cameo! Come on, throw him a line, Toby!

I think if he was referring to YIIK, he would have deleted that tweet just how he deleted the tweet saying he made a song for the game.

Speaking of tweets that didn't age well/might be deleted, do you think Toby will ever delete this tweets he made defending Malding Faggot over MatPat not promoting his shitty tech demo?
toby defends mald.webp

You'd think he'd have pretty strong opinions on game ownership seeing as all his work is built on reinventing and reinterpreting other games and related media, and a good portion of Deltarune, if not the entire project is commentary on that. Malding software goes against that pretty strongly.

His business relationship with Nintendo, etc might just mean he can't say much publically.
