Undertale

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
I am hugely into Undertale. I said in the Games thread that I'm very into games that make me invest heavily in characters and Undertale, despite being a little game maker game, has put huge amounts of effort into making the characters enjoyable with lots of depth and texture.

I'm currently doing a genocide run, as the game calls you out if you choose to watch it instead of playing it yourself, and I'm heartbroken, I really am. The way the game executes your murderous intent, especially with the knowledge I have had before, really hurts.

Also I am intending to do some Inktober pieces for Undertale (I've put the sketches under the spoiler since they are big but not horrifically spoilery unless you like experiencing cheesy one liners for the first time on your own.

I originally interpreted her black shirt to be a bodysuit, so I kind of switched it up to play into the person I was doing it for's love of weird anime costumes.

OK I'm done with my dumb art sperging.

For those who have played, who all has favorite characters or moments in the game yet? Sans is definitely my favorite character; he really seems to break the fourth wall to me (am I the only one who feels like he talks to the player and not Frisk most of the time?) and I love that in games.

I'm just waiting for my IRL friends to discover this next year (after blowing me off as just liking it because lolmonsters) and have the second wave sperg come at me.

Also for some reason Tumblr's Undertale fandom is choc full of bizarre vomiting fetish art right now and I really can't understand why. ¯\(°_°)/¯

Yeah im thinking about getting it soon,Should i get the bundle with the soundtrack which is like $20 bucks or get the regular one that is $10 bucks?

I only got the $10 version so idk, but an extra ten for the soundtrack doesn't sound worth it to me.

Yeah I'm thinking about just getting the game for $10,Then I would get the soundtrack some other way since people say it's really good.

Soundtrack is very worth having, you'll find that there'll be at least 7 songs that you'll want to listen to over and over. My favourite would probably be 'Dummy!'. Followed by the final battle songs.

And Bonetrousle deserves praise as the second most coolest utilisation of a song in the game because of the way they set it up in the battle.

Well.

Finally finished Undertale. I decided to check it out after seeing about 10 minutes of gameplay. I thought it was going to be a fun silly Earhbound-like game, with some 4th wall breaking moments. I wasn't expecting to be in tears by when I got the Neutral ending and then the "Good" ending.

Solid characters, emotional and enganing story, fun game play and a great soundtrack. What a great game.

Now... Who's your favorite character? Mine is....
Dr. Alphys!

Besides being a huge awkward nerd, I loved how her story arc develops throughout the game.

My favorite characters are sans and mettaton!
I just love how lighthearted both can be, and you get to see a whole other side of sans in the genocide route!

I love mettatons personality and how full of himself he can be, and when I found out about his backstory it just gave more character to him!

Although I love all the characters a lot!

Now play a genocide run. I swear you'll have such a bad fun time!

I've been having a real bad/good time trying to beat sans, I'd guess I'm at least 50 tries in. Every time I get a little further in his routine, I get blasted with some new shit I wasn't ready for.

My favorite quote of all time.

"D O Y O U W A N N A H A V E A B A D T I M E ?"

Mine is by the same guy.

"GET DUNKED ON"
Right before he smashes the fourth wall and makes you feel like shit.

I'd love to get this game, but I have a really shitty computer. Do you guys think it will run on my 10 year old computer running Windows Vista? Normally any game released in the past 5 years won't run on it, but since this is an indie game with retro graphics, it might.

Perhaps use one of the sites that can tell whether or not you can run it. They might help. The Steam page also list the specs so unless your pc was literally ancient from say the 90's, you're fine.

This combines two of my favourite things.

And no, they're not men.

It's not a graphics heavy game at all, I would guess that it should be fine but you should check anyways. The game is absolutely worth the $10.
