Undertale

We are reaching Dead Sea levels of salt here. I feel my blood pressure rising just looking at all the salt. I called out for help, but my cries were lost in the salt.

Boy, this is probably the most I've laughed at a bunch of dumbasses online since Deagle Nation. I really hope this goes on for a while.

I don't get why people are up in arms about Undertale being supposedly overly SJW-ish. Yes, it has gay relations in it, references to transgenderism (the diary of "Happstablook", the ghost inside Mettaton, mentions he finally has a body he feels confident in) and focusses around doing the right thing, but is that so bad? It's not at all forced in my opinion, and you get the freedom to have your own opinion on things. It's also not the first game to go into such topics at all. The only SJW thing about the game is that the SJW base ate this game up, and now salty GameFAQ users use that as an argument. Which is just fucking lovely.

I at least get the complaint about the game beating you over the head with the pacifism message, given how it interprets "experience points" and "level" and how the only two proper endings you can get can only be achieved by either killing absolutely nothing (not even So Sorry, sadly) or going out of your way to murder everything (yet doesn't make So Sorry mandatory, but getting to him would be too much of a hassle anyway). There's endings for inbetween states, sure, but that serves more as a hint to go for the Pacifist route. Though at the very least, the game at least admits as much as refusing to fight back doesn't mean the opposition won't still attack you and that you need to make more of an effort.

Like, I do have my issues with the writing - characters and humour are fine to me, but when it wants to be more serious or emotional, it's like flipping a coin to determine whether it works from a structural standpoint - but I don't really understand putting UT on the same level as, say, Sunset.

Am I the only one who didn't understand Mettaton's diary as a transgender thing? More like having an actual body instead of being a spirit? Dunno, given the situation, makes more sense to me.

Well, getting a different body where you "feel like yourself" is a bit of a typical transgender thing. But again, it's left open for your own interpretation.

Does anyone do that? I've seen some anti-GGs like massive shit-for-brains Izzy Galvez claiming GG is freaking out about Undertale, but I haven't seen any freaking out even from nuts like #ggrevolt.

The only people I've seen freaking out are GameFAQ autists who freak out about everything.

This. Everyone says that him choosing to make his new body effiminate is supposed to be him going trans, but yet his body was built to his exact specifications and he still chose to have it be male. I mean he is friends with Alphys, and she's obsessed with anime so it would make sense that Mettaton would choose to have his new body be modeled after a "glamorous" anime character.

I interpreted Mettaton's various transformations being more about "determination." Like most of the symbolism in the game, it's about working toward a goal, and if you have enough determination, you can achieve it. Mettaton wanted to be a glamorous entertainer, and became one, but only after a lot of work, sacrifice, and help from others.

Anyway, there's a lot of sour grapes in the GameFAQs community.

They actually have an option in their after-poll for "Won't buy the game out of spite." It has 24.22% of the vote right now.

From what I can see it's mostly them pretending people think it's too SJW when in reality most people seem to like the game.

So, the fangames are starting to emerge. It's only a fight, but it has a couple gimmicks I could see happen in the proper game, too.
There's already a fanmade engine, Unitale, which allows you to make your own Undertale battles in LUA. It's still in development and is meant to be able to allow you to create an entire Undertale-like game, with an overworld as well. I can already smell the shitty OCs/AUs coming up.

Behold the salt, for it is magnificent.

EDIT: But wait, there's more!

This guy pretty much encapsulates everything I hate about "gamer culture". Instead of focusing on games he enjoys like a normal well-adjusted person, he fucking obsesses over a game he hates for some unknown reason (seeing as he hasn't even played it) and goes as far as to say it basically ruined his life and hobby by virtue of existing.

I mean I like Undertale a lot, but if you don't that's perfectly fine. But I will never fucking understand this whole 'hate culture' that refuses to fuck off.

And now I'm seeing speculation about the GameFAQs poll just being an advertisment for Undertale. You know, a game with a fanbase that's already notorious for its obnoxiousness to the point some people refuse to play the game because of it.

It's like they desperately want this to be relevant.

FTFY. No, but really, what would the point of that be? And it isn't as if Toby Fox would bribe GameFAQs, heck, he never wished for the game to become as crazy popular as it is. He's even cynical about the radical part of his fanbase.
But it isn't as if the autistic GameFAQ ragers care about facts, they'll just throw whatever they can come up with at Undertale in the desperate hope of having it stripped of the title and instead have a Nintendo game take the crown. But like CWC's efforts, it'll be ignored and it'll go to waste.
