Undertale

FNAF was a neat concept for 10 minutes Undertale has more substance as a game and has tons of effort and love poured into it.
Both fandoms are insane, one is filed with children (and furries) and the other is filled with sjws (and furries)

My review of Undertale.

  • Absolutely terrible menus. Nostalgia is not an excuse for such bullshit.
  • No way to turn off the characters' speech noises.
  • Skipping dialogue requires you to press two buttons.
  • Forces you to use the arrow keys instead of WASD like some kind of caveman.
  • Undyne's spare mechanic.
  • Tem is not funny and feels like a forced meme.
  • Art style.
  • No run button.
  • Replays are kind of tedious.
  • Certain boss battles are impossible to fail.
  • Sans and Papyrus are funny but overrated.
  • I can't complete the block pushing puzzle.
  • Music.
  • Feels were had.
  • Writing that made me lol.
  • Fun and easy puzzles.
  • Every boss battle has something new.
  • Characters all felt unique and distinct from one another.
  • LGBT representation that isn't pretentiously up it's own ass.
  • A divorced couple that doesn't get back together by the end.
  • "Anime is real."
  • Flowey's battle.
  • Napstablook, Mad Dummy, and Burgerpants.

All I know is that what we have here is a perfectly good game that fanboys will add to the ever-growing list of "Best Gaem Evar"... a list which would ideally be only one entry long, but which cannot exist because people have different tastes (duh).

And so this retarded list of the thousands of The Holy Grail of Gaming grows ever more.

EDIT: I mean, isn't it funny that "Ter Bost geam Evvr" changes every year?

Eh, I really liked it but I wouldn't say it's the best game ever, I just like that it's something new and it did a great job at a lot of stuff. Like having a karma system that completely switches the tone of the game and has genuine consequences, making nearly every single character memorable, and having each boss add their own spin to the game mechanics was fun. Also the fact that they didn't just rely on chiptune and added actual music that made every track sound awesome. But the fact that you can't actually do a perfect run the first time because you have to reset to befriend Alphys was annoying, the fact that Omega Flowey closes the game when he kills you really started to piss me off, and the way you have to spare certain mosters is tedious and kinda hard to figure out. It's not perfect, but It's still pretty good.

You don't need to reset to befriend Alphys. Jacksepticeye did a playthrough that started out true pacifist but ended up going neutral because he didn't do what he needed to befriend Alphys. When he loaded up the game again his old save was there, so he just walked out of the Capital and went back to Hotland.

The way Omega Flowey closes the game on you was actually my favorite thing about that fight. I've never had a game get so meta on me before and it took me by surprise.

Yeah, as long as you don't kill anyone in your initial playthrough, you can reload your SAVE from just before the Asgore fight and do all the side "make friends" stuff.

Oh, all this.

It really is a fantastic example of how to do LGBT characters well. It's kind of hard to talk about it because what the game does best is not talk about it. It just shows the characters in their relationships like normal... er, monsters.

I do think people take Frisk being gender neutral a bit too far, however. There's no character customization apart from your name so making Frisk gender neutral is an obvious way to get around that. You can project whatever identity you want onto them. From a game play standpoint it's pretty clever.

Yeah, like there's nothing they say about him as a character (besides maybe a small hint with the abandoned quiche that he may have been abandoned) because you're supposed to see yourself as Frisk so when you go around murdering or making friends it's more emotionally effective because you can put yourself in his shoes. The only thing that's clear about him is that he's a human and a child
Why the fuck do people care if you misgender a fictional character, they can't have their feelings hurt because they're not fucking real
