Have you ever seen someone you don't mind or maybe even like get a dedicated thread on the farms? Maybe it even made you sad?
This isn't meant to be a white knight echo chamber. Be genuine, but don't be whiney. You can have empathy without circlejerking. We're all adults here, allegedly.

Not really. I used to think Mattpatt was pretty tame to get a dedicated thread here but I don't fully disagree with its existence.

I don't think stonetoss deserves a thread, not because I agree with him politically, rather because the closest thing to sperginess he's put out is a few incel tier takes and thus his thread is really just people agreeing with his stuff and laughing at shitty left wing edits

On topic: I think DSP obviously deserves a thread, but I never understood him getting an entire subforum. He just doesn't seem that interesting and mostly just does the same shit every week. Same for Amberlynn Reid.

I think MatPat is a prime example of internet celebs inevitably getting some kind of hate following.
He made something gamer normies liked, got more and more positive attention, bragged about it "ironically" on social media, got ass-pats for the "brave" bragging against the haters and so-on. Now he's at the very least painted himself as a narcissist douche who hides behind positive language.
I think people who rise to fame through a medium without a professional, industry setting are more prone to this.

Regardless of who you think does and doesn't deserve a thread, this is a gossip forum, where everyone talks shit about everyone. Or did you forget where you were?

Here's a better idea... why not just say who or what you think doesn't deserve a thread rather than going through a coy way of bringing it up.

It's exactly because I don't have a game plan that I moved to this subforum, It's somewhat less likely to devolve into chaos.
I'm well aware of what the farms are for. Is it that shady to wanna share and here genuine thoughts?
I'll type up my own contribution. I just wanted to let others go first so the OP didn't read like an autistic "We should take down the farms" post.

I was honestly a little sad to see a thread on Monica Rial. She's an okay voice actor (shitty Bulma though) and was generally always polite and professional. The thing that painted a target on her head was the Vic Mignogna meltdown. She came out alongside other members of the voice acting industry accusing him of sexually assaulting her. She wasn't the first and wasn't the most outspoken to do so. For comparison, Jamie Marchi is another VA that lives to spout leftist, feminist politics and regularly talks shit back to people.

Regardless, for whatever reason she has become the face of conspiracy theories. Mignogna was the guy in anime dubbing and was known for being goofy and friendly at cons, so he understandably had many fans who didn't want to even consider that any allegations were true. The farcical court case Mignogna tried against Funimation also went after her in particular.

She seems the type who can't deal with excessive trolling (unlike Marchi), but I feel bad cause it seems like she didn't want all this attention. The acts alleged were a real, potentially dangerous thing that needs addressing, so one might speak up even if they'd rather not or the sake of privacy. I'll stop that train of thought there so this doesn't just turn into a #MeToo thread.

These days, it looks like she only talks about her roles and convention appearances unless otherwise prompted, but she remains this weird illuminati boogeyman. It's really unfortunate.

I don't know much about that case, but if she falsely accused someone of sexual assault then she deserves a thread. If not then her meltdown online warrants a thread too.
 
That's the thing. She didn't have much of a meltdown. After the initial sperging at her, she did what most cows refuse to do: took a step away from the internet for a week, came back and ignored the weens.
I don't wanna turn this into a thread all about Vic Mignogna. I'll just say that there was a lot building up to the accusations, to the point I wasn't at all surprised that it happened. Her alleged experience is actually pretty tame (he kissed her and pushed her onto the bed. She said no and left and did her best to put it behind her). Alone that wouldn't be worth a big investigation, which is why it's so weird and sad that she sits at the top of the hate list.

One right choice does not invalidate the use of a thread, if a lolcow actually eases back then it will decay and vanish. They very, very rarely do this and thus gunning to filter out 'undeserved' threads is a terrible idea and will inevitably be highly opinionated by whoever gets to choose the pruning.
