The owner of the car is apparently James Fields Jr. of Maumee, OH. Police are saying he panicked because of the counter-protesters and floored it. He is in custody.
I think he was a part of Unite the Right (images of him being arrested show him wearing a polo and khakis, which the UtR crowd was dressed in because Trump, though it may come out he just so happened to be dressed that way).
I don't think he did it maliciously. He got spooked because the counter-protesters were getting rowdy. Still deeply shitty that people got injured and killed. Both sides need to calm the fuck down.

If it is true I don't know why protesters think messing with cars is a good idea, they keep doing it and it keeps going wrong if you are on an active road give cars a wide birth and don't fucking attack them because shockingly cars can move faster than you, they also stop slower than you as well.

More semi-legit sources presumably incoming as the cluster fuck gets sorted out.
Looks like he's registered as a Republican. Not hard evidence of anything per se since not all Republicans are the types that would go to this rally but if nothing else, makes it less likely that he was a counter-protester.
