I kind of wish it had been a black guy and then the protestors could riot and basically destroy the airline. For once, I'd support them.

This is going to cost them more than some bullshit riot.

If it was a Filipino Duterte would love to give them a helicopter ride. Though seriously, couldn't they have given their employees a separate ride instead of asking random people to voluntarily leave?

They also shouldn't defraud their customers in the first place by overselling services they can't deliver.

Honestly, while people are pissed off, the stuff a lot of people are coming up with on the #NewUnitedAirlinesMottos is fucking hilarious.

This is one of the funniest internet outrages recently.

Could be worse at least no one's referencing United 93 with a tasteless joke by saying an Asian was onboard and helped stop the terrorists from reaching their target even though everyone onboard died, or not the the first time an Asian suffered in United, because that would be horrible and come to think of it, I probably shouldn't have brought that up because someone will see this and make jokes anyway, so, whoops.

You're assuming she made an honest mistake. I know you shouldn't assume malice when good old fashioned incompetence is a possibility but with this fucking media, who knows?

It doesn't have to be actual malice anyway, because this guy is not a public figure with that protection against defamation. If it was merely a negligent mistake, they're still liable. I think it would be pretty easy to make the mistake of confusing two very similarly named doctors with foreign sounding names.

However, it would also be pretty easy NOT to fuck up like that, and any professional would take the effort to double check for name collisions and not just report whatever they get hits on in some database as fact.

Haha, it sounds like this couple was trying to take advantage of the negative press United is dealing with to play some shenanigans to try to get a free upgrade, which backfired:

Seriously, if someone is sleeping in your assigned sleep, you wake them up and say "excuse me, sorry but this is my seat." Their story is super dodgy to the point where even United is more credible.
