Here is an official statement from Epic about this, they're de listing them with no plans is seems. A shame, I was considering getting OG Unreal Tournament as I never played it when it was new.Looks like they're shutting down the servers for things like Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament 3 in January, delisted them from storefronts, and are now putting up versions with new online systems like Unreal Tournament 3 X. Would put money on some new bundle for stuff like Gold coming out next year, or maybe this is a sign of some remaster.
That's how Steam goes, if you owned it ever you can still download it.good thing i still have a copy of unreal gold, i guess. i still think it is one of the best games ever made. that said, i just re-downloaded it from steam, so i guess if you already own it, its still there?
Correct. It is why I can still play Darkspore. I mean I don't. Ever. But I could! That's how Steam goes, if you owned it ever you can still download it.
dunno why people always ask that.good thing i still have a copy of unreal gold, i guess. i still think it is one of the best games ever made. that said, i just re-downloaded it from steam, so i guess if you already own it, its still there?
in my case, because im a retard and very much behind the times..i dont even own a cell phone, but that aside, its good to know. i really love that game, and all the old games, like tribes, septerra core, etc.dunno why people always ask that.
Considering how epic basically black holes any game they take down like the infinity blade series those games are fucking dead and buried unless you sail the 7 seas now. Thanks ten cent timmyLooks like they're shutting down the servers for things like Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament 3 in January, delisted them from storefronts, and are now putting up versions with new online systems like Unreal Tournament 3 X. Seems to working as intended. If people still had server lists and unofficial servers people could run servers with custom content, stealing potential battlepass customers, and when the official servers are shut down you'll be forced to buy the newest title, with even more microtransactions and woke bullshit.Unless I am mistaken, they are just taking down the master servers for Unreal and UT. That will make the built-in server browsers unusable, but you can still connect to servers directly (and maybe use third-party masters although I don’t remember if that’s actually a thing for Unreal games).
Pretty soon the only multiplayer games that will be available to play are the absolute newest titles, big-ticket “evergreens” and old classics like UT and Q3A. There is already a swath of titles from the mid-2000s through the 2010s that are unplayable because of their reliance on dead services like GameSpy and Games For Windows Live, and it’s just going to get worse as shitty modern game devs double down on centralizing matchmaking and server infrastructure.
Wait what? That's the reason they shut it down?Yes, I'm fully aware that a bunch of modded UT2004 servers were being used to hack Fortnie. No, I don't care.
Possibly. It was years ago but I assume that they don't want a repeat of:Wait what? That's the reason they shut it down?
