Unsolved Mysteries Reboot to premiere July 1st on Netflix

13) The Death of Don Henry and Kevin Ives
These two are pretty widely believed to have been part of the Clinton body count. They were supposedly out hunting in an area very near Mena airport. This was during Bill's time as Arkansas governor and there was tons of corruption. Mena airport was known for drug running and the theory I've seen is that these kids were in the wrong place at the wrong time and were dumped on the tracks later.

Anyway, that's disappointing about the reboot not nailing it but I suppose it could be worse.

This is a case where I don't think I mind a reboot. Especially since there's a lot of missing people and maybe it'd help.

I had heard theories of the boys seeing something they weren't supposed to and police corruption covering up the true nature of their deaths, but I had never heard about the Clinton connection before...interesting.

Are the episodes gonna be centered around "hate crimes"

I dunno if they're really appropriately considered mysteries for the most part, though, as the cases mostly seemed to be 'we probably know who did it but can't prove it legally', rather than truly being a mystery.

Like... Episode 2, the yandere husband obviously murdered her because she was going to divorce him, and then later cuddled with her skull. Episode 4, Alonzo was killed in a fight that broke out over him scoring with that girl, and his friend who 'got lost looking for cigs' witnessed it and is hiding it because he feels somehow responsible (the boots/hat are where they are because someone threw them out of the passenger window while trying to drive out of there at top speed), and Episode 5 just isn't even a mystery, it's just a woman murdering her husband and daughter and getting away with it because she burned their bodies. I guess Episode 1 counts as a mystery, because there is the question of who in that stock business, or what dirty politician higher up, had Rey killed, but I'm more accustomed to the kinds of mysteries where people disappear and there's only scant evidence of what may have happened to them, rather than the kinds where you know what happened but can't legally prove it.

That's where the lack of variety in the cases becomes an issue. The old UM definitely had plenty of "Fuck you! I know who did it!" type of stories (Again, read up on the Wendy Camp disappearance and see if you can contain your anger), but it was balanced out with a ton of other different types of stories. The "We know who did it, but we can't prove it" story is a type. The old show did a great job of balancing out all the different kinds of stories, and we didn't really get that here.

I'll give my own thoughts on each case:

1) Rey Rivera's Unexplained Death = I can't help but feel like the dude got over stressed and offed himself. There is a gap in the story (how did he get up there, what happened, what drove him to do it, etc.) and I think the answer lies with the company he was working for, but they hushed up once they were being investigated. However, I do feel like the truth would disappoint his family, as I'm almost certain Rey did it himself. Still, they deserve the truth either way.

2) Patrice Endres' Murder = Here's the thing. I don't necessarily think the husband did it, BUT, he is one of the strangest motherfuckers ever interviewed for UM (and that's saying something!). When he admitted to having her skeletal remains reassembled, him kissing them, and then admitting to sleeping with her ashes (which he whipped out for the camera...Jesus), I thought that this dude had a screw loose. Someone who behaves like that, you'd think he'd had something to do with it, but his alibi appeared to be fairly tight, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Still, weird motherfucker.

3) House of Terror = Yeah, that dude's dead. We can throw theories about how he's living a new life, but how can an aristocrat blend into society? He'd get discovered eventually, no? I think when he murdered his family, he opted to end it all, and his remains are somewhere in the wilderness.

4) Alonzo Brooks' Unexplained Death = Somebody at that party saw something, no doubt. Some people wondered why his friends left him there. Personally, I think its because they thought or Alonzo thought that he could seal the deal with a lady. I've seen that same scenario play out time and time again. I think Alonzo was murdered, possibly by several people. There is a huge gap in the story and somebody at that party knows or saw something, and I think this one could be wrapped up pretty easily if someone just came forward.

5) Berkshire UFOs = Those aren't supposed to be solved. The Ghosts, Aliens, legends, those type of stories. We aren't supposed to get answers to those. That's why they're fun.

6) Lena Chaplin's Disappearance = This is the most obvious one of the bunch. The mom and her lover did it. They made her daughter go bye bye, and its obvious to everyone with a brain. Its just a shame the remains haven't been found so that a murder can be pinned on her.

Only watched the first case so far. Kind of just spun it's wheels at the end, then just casually dropped two important bits of info that would've reshaped what you thought the whole time. It was... Eh.
It doesn't need a host though, the first episode moved along at a solid clip without one.

Why the fuck wasn't Elisa Lam on Unsolved Mysteries:

That news story was legitimately fucking horrifying. Woman goes up in an elevator, completely disappears. She's found in a water tank , in which to this day they don't know how she got in. It really lacks those frightening elements of the original.

The fact that Rey's creepy looking freemason friend put out gag order in the company and declined to be interviewed says it all. Why decline if you have nothing to hide? According to wikipedia he is also a felon. I'm not surprised if he killed Rey. Think Karen Silkwood but male and thrown off the building.

Exactly.
They knew each other from childhood and he doesn't want to help with the investigation ?
