Most, yeah. Though there's a backlog of chats and stuff that were being added in up to when the CWCki got knocked offline so Wayback hasn't had a chance to archive everything yet.

Ok lol, so I have some complicated updates

so, my understanding on this has evolved over the past couple days. a few points:

* so I asked earlier in the week. I first learned that 1776's servers are indeed pinned behind an obnoxious ddos attack. no clue when that's going to let up. KF is up because it's hosted through other infrastructure. I'm guessing KF's real server was elsewhere and when null did have it hosted on 1776, he just reverse proxied to it from 1776

* my next thought is that, shit, we're out of commission for awhile. our last backup is Oct 18, 2021. If you really want me to, I can bring that backup up again and you guys can just manually cherrypick information from archives and rewrite the missing year. that really sucks, I know. but if we're going to be out of commission for another, say, six months, would you prefer to have the old version now? or just wait it out?

Because of that, I think if we do decide to say "fuck it" and go with the old backup, that's fine. I'll do that. but I'd like to wait at least a week to see if there's any progress on dealing with the ddos. At the very least, we might have a better timetable

The CWCKi being down has made me wonder if an actual physical encyclopedia could ever be a possibility. We would probably have to wait for Chris to die but there is definitely enough information about Chris that a hardcopy version of the CWCki would probably have a decent run.

If not mistaken, that "archive" is from 2017. The site was crawled so other not perfect and looks bad, I looked and checked it out already.

Marvin, imo, you should make a copy and keep it just incase. If there's no rush, wait a week or so for 1776 to work things out. Worse case, you can start the site again whenever you want from the back up.

Crawling a site and scraping the content is not remotely similar to a backup pulled from the server. The former is practically useless if you want to rebuild a site since that’s not how modern websites work. Maybe twenty years ago it would have been helpful, but not now.

Is there any particular reason that the CWCki can't be hosted with a different host behind CloudFlare? Keep the eggs in separate baskets kind of thing.
